Graduate Cloud Software Engineer 2026 start Overview

Company Name Cambridge Consultants
Job Role Graduate Cloud Software Engineer 2026 start
Qualifications Bachelor’s
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Rest of UK

This graduate software engineering opportunity is aimed at people who want to work on varied, technically challenging cloud and digital projects in a collaborative deep-tech environment. The role sits within a team that builds software for ambitious clients, often in situations where the problem is new, the specification is not yet fully defined, and the solution needs to be shaped through close teamwork and technical judgement.

You would be joining a group that works across cloud-based systems, rich user interfaces, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled services. The work can range from delivering an entire software solution to contributing one part of a broader system that also includes hardware developed either in-house or by clients. The team values curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn quickly while taking ownership of your work.

What you would do

  • Contribute to a broad mix of software projects, sometimes owning the full software deliverable and sometimes building a component within a larger hardware-and-software ecosystem.
  • Help create digital services that enable clients to achieve important goals and deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Design and implement software for cloud deployments that are built to scale, remain secure, and can be monitored effectively.
  • Develop and deploy AI agents and supporting services using cloud-native design patterns.
  • Work through ambiguous or early-stage requirements and help turn them into practical, effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, including software engineers, UX and service designers, mathematicians, test engineers, and DevOps specialists.
  • Contribute to the growth of the team and its technical capability.
  • Keep up with new developments in technology and bring ideas for how they could be used to solve real client problems.
  • Participate in a culture of knowledge sharing so the team can plan, improve, and progress together.

Technology you may encounter

There is no single fixed stack for this role. The tools used will depend on the needs of each project, and the team may use generative AI where appropriate. Technologies and platforms you may work with include AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, Python, LangChain, TensorFlow, BMad, Elasticsearch, Terraform, and GitLab CI.

What the experience is like

  • You will have access to a wide variety of projects across multiple industries, so the work should stay diverse and engaging.
  • You will receive mentoring and training tailored to your ambitions and the direction you want your career to take.
  • You will have flexibility in choosing the tools and processes that best support your craft.
  • You will have opportunities to build strong relationships and enjoy working with colleagues.

Who they are looking for

  • Applicants who are currently studying for, or have already completed, a relevant degree such as computer science or software engineering, with strong academic performance.
  • People with good communication skills who can work well with peers and clients to understand challenges and present thoughtful solutions.
  • Candidates with a genuine interest in the latest technology trends and a strong desire to keep learning.
  • People who can demonstrate cloud technology experience, or at least a clear enthusiasm for cloud computing.
  • Applicants with practical programming experience.
  • Individuals who are adaptable, enjoy challenge, and are comfortable learning as they go.
  • People who like working collaboratively while also taking responsibility for their own work.

Timing and application notes

Successful candidates can begin the role between May and October 2026. Applications are reviewed as they come in rather than against a fixed closing date, and the advert will be removed once the position has been filled. Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

By applying, you confirm that the information you provide, including any supporting documents, is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. The company may check the details you submit, and false, misleading, or incomplete information can result in removal from the recruitment process, withdrawal of an offer, or dismissal after appointment if discovered later.
