Palantir
Software Engineer, Internship – Infrastructure Overview
| Company Name | Palantir |
| Job Role | Software Engineer, Internship – Infrastructure |
| Qualifications | Bachelor’s |
| Category | IT Jobs |
| Job Type | Internship |
| Location | London |
This internship is part of Palantirâs infrastructure engineering organization, where software engineers help power the systems behind some of the companyâs most important products and internal platforms. The work is centered on large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure that supports data-driven decision-making, AI, deployment systems, observability, and the underlying platforms used by major institutions in the public and private sectors.
As an intern on the infrastructure side, you would be writing meaningful code that contributes directly to the systems behind Palantir Foundry, Palantir Gotham, and Palantir Apollo. You may also work on Rubix and Mission Manager, which are internal infrastructure products used by advanced civil and defence agencies in highly sensitive settings. Another area of impact is the substrate that Palantir uses to deploy Foundry and Gotham, enabling workflows for research scientists, aerospace engineers, intelligence analysts, and economic forecasters.
The internship is designed to give you substantial exposure to engineering at scale and to help you grow quickly by working on problems that improve the speed, reliability, and quality of engineering across the company. Infrastructure work at Palantir is spread across several teams, including Foundations, Production Infrastructure, and Foundry.
What you could work on
- Within Foundations, you may join a small team focused on one of the companyâs core infrastructure areas: backend infrastructure, developer infrastructure, frontend infrastructure, or storage infrastructure.
- Within Production Infrastructure, you may contribute to systems such as Environment Platform, a Kubernetes-based platform-as-a-service that spans hundreds of production clusters.
- You may also work on Apollo, Palantirâs secure deployment and change-management system for large microservice environments.
- Another possible area is Signals, the companyâs observability and alerting suite.
- Because Foundry is itself a developer platform and many of its users are developers, you may build tools that are used by other builders and may also be considered for related infrastructure roles within the Foundry product team.
What Palantir is looking for
- A strong interest in helping other developers build better applications and in improving the tools they rely on.
- Awareness of how engineering changes affect developer workflows and the productivity of end users.
- The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with engineers, users, and people who are not technical specialists.
- A willingness to learn quickly, make decisions on your own when needed, and ask questions when appropriate.
Required background and skills
- An engineering-related academic background, such as computer science, mathematics, software engineering, or physics.
- Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other relevant technical tools.
- Experience programming in languages such as Java, C++, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or comparable languages.
- You must be expected to graduate in 2028.
- This internship must be your last internship before you graduate.
How to apply
To apply, you need to provide an updated resume or CV in PDF format and answer the application questions thoughtfully.
Working style and location
The role is listed for London, United Kingdom, and the posting identifies it as an on-site internship. Palantir says it generally believes people do their best work together in person and encourages office-based work to support collaboration and innovation. Remote work is only available in exceptional cases for certain roles, and if a role is designated remote, you must work from the city or country where you are employed. If a posting is marked on-site, you are expected to work from the office.
Life at Palantir
Palantir says it aims to help every employee achieve strong outcomes by recognizing individual strengths, skills, and interests rather than relying on traditional career ladders. Palantir states that it is committed to making the application and hiring process accessible to everyone and will provide reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. If you need help with the application or hiring process because of a disability, you are encouraged to contact the company.
