Liberty Global is seeking a senior leader to take on a pivotal role shaping the company’s network strategy and the adoption of artificial intelligence across its telecommunications operations. Based in London, this position sits within Liberty Tech and offers the chance to influence how network capabilities and AI are developed, governed, and scaled across the wider group.

The role focuses on working across operating companies and central teams to create network and AI strategies, define technology direction, and put in place governance that supports strong service quality, resilient network performance, and operational excellence. A major part of the job is identifying where AI can deliver the most value in areas such as network planning, operations, and assurance, while making sure those solutions are deployed safely, responsibly, and at scale.

You will also work closely with senior stakeholders across technology, security, data, procurement, legal, and regulatory functions. The aim is to build shared standards, improve collaboration, and deliver measurable improvements for both the business and its customers.

What you will do

• Develop the company’s network and AI direction by shaping strategy, architectural principles, and technology roadmaps in collaboration with senior leaders and operating businesses.
• Create and lead governance arrangements that help identify, prioritise, and deliver the network and AI initiatives with the highest business value.
• Drive the use of AI and machine learning across network planning, operations, optimisation, and maintenance.
• Spot, evaluate, and scale AI use cases that can improve network performance, incident response, capacity planning, and overall operational effectiveness.
• Design a controlled and well-governed approach to AI adoption, with clear accountability, auditability, human oversight, and production controls.
• Work with security, data, and AI governance teams to identify and manage the risks associated with AI deployment.
• Review technology partners and vendor capabilities to support sound investment and technology decisions.
• Build effective partnerships across operating companies and central teams to promote common standards and consistent ways of working.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across technology, security, data, procurement, legal, and regulatory areas to align priorities and deliver business and customer outcomes.

What the role calls for

The company is looking for someone with direct experience applying AI, machine learning, or AIOps in telecommunications network planning, engineering, or operations. You should have a strong grasp of network architecture, including 5G standalone, radio access networks, and AI-enabled network operations.

You will need a solid understanding of AI governance, model lifecycle management, telemetry, data pipelines, and the practicalities of deploying models into production. The role also requires the ability to turn complex technical ideas into clear, actionable guidance for senior stakeholders.

Experience setting technical standards and helping multiple business entities adopt them is important, as is strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing ability. Liberty Global is also looking for an inclusive leader who can work effectively across different teams, countries, and cultures, and who is comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and adapting to shifting priorities.

Additional experience that would be helpful includes familiarity with AI observability, model evaluation, and agent tracing tools; exposure to hyperscaler AI platforms, model gateways, or AI guardrail solutions; support for network transformation or other large-scale technology programmes; and commercial understanding of broadband, mobile, and digital communications markets.

For education, a degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related subject is preferred, although equivalent practical experience is also acceptable. Professional certifications or ongoing learning in AI, machine learning, MLOps, or AI safety would also be an advantage.
