This role is designed for someone with real patent drafting experience who wants to move beyond traditional practice and use that expertise to influence the development of AI-powered tools for IP professionals. The position sits at the intersection of customer engagement, product strategy, and technical workflow understanding, with a strong focus on helping shape a patent drafting solution that solves genuine problems for practitioners.
What the role involves
- Acting as a knowledgeable advisor to patent and IP professionals on how AI can improve patent drafting, search, prosecution, portfolio management, and wider innovation workflows.
- Working with customers on important opportunities, including workshops, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and enterprise-level discussions, alongside Sales and Customer Success colleagues.
- Gathering customer feedback and market insight, then translating that information into product improvements and scalable solutions.
- Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to influence product direction, prioritisation, and the design of patent and IP workflows.
- Helping define, test, and validate new product capabilities through customer input, pilots, and practical experimentation.
- Serving as the internal specialist for patent drafting, patent search, prosecution, and innovation intelligence workflows.
- Supporting AI-enabled capabilities in areas such as patent intelligence, semantic search, knowledge discovery, and workflow automation.
- Staying current on developments in patent AI, LegalTech, and innovation intelligence so the business remains aligned with the market.
- Creating enablement resources such as demo narratives, workflow playbooks, and best-practice guidance.
- Acting as the bridge between customers, commercial teams, and product teams to ensure the company builds tools that address real-world practitioner needs.
What the company is looking for
- Hands-on experience drafting patent applications, ideally gained as a European Patent Attorney, trainee Patent Attorney, Patent Agent, or in a similar IP-focused role.
- A strong grasp of patent drafting, prosecution, and the broader workflows used in IP practice.
- Genuine curiosity about technology and an interest in how AI can improve the work of patent professionals.
- Comfort speaking with customers and presenting solutions, not just working internally on product or legal matters.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with patent attorneys, IP teams, and innovation leaders.
- Confidence leading product demonstrations, customer discussions, and explanations of complex workflows in practical terms.
- A commercial mindset with the ability to understand customer challenges and identify opportunities to create value.
- Experience working across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
- An interest in shaping products and influencing how they are developed.
- Preferred background or exposure in SaaS, LegalTech, IPTech, or AI-driven software products.
- Helpful additional experience in product management, product ownership, or workflow design.
- Helpful familiarity with generative AI, large language models, workflow automation, or other emerging AI technologies.
- Helpful experience supporting enterprise customers, software implementations, or complex B2B workflows.
