Ping Identity is looking for an enthusiastic, growth-oriented Business Analyst to join its Sales Engineering Operations team in the identity and access management side of cybersecurity. The team works in a fast-moving, process-aware way that avoids rigid waterfall delivery and lengthy approval chains. Instead, it operates more like a rapid prototyping group, getting involved early in new product introductions and changing go-to-market motions so it can build, refine, and validate functional prototypes quickly for late-stage sales discussions, live demonstrations, and proof-of-concept work.
This position is centered on business analysis, with a strong emphasis on technical validation. The successful candidate will take early sales ideas, sales plays, and go-to-market needs from internal stakeholders, turn them into developer-ready user stories, and then personally verify that the finished prototype meets the intended outcome. This is a dedicated business analyst career path within cybersecurity and IAM; it is not intended as a software engineering or developer-track role.
What you will do
- Work closely with sales engineering, product, and go-to-market partners to gather rough, early-stage feature ideas and convert them into clear user stories and workflows in Jira.
- Help the team move quickly through prototype development by replacing slow, document-heavy requirement processes with a more iterative approach focused on practical delivery.
- Use storytelling and visual mapping to explain requirements, shape mockups, and support fast refinement of prototypes so the team can avoid committee-style delays.
- Use approved AI tools in a careful and responsible way to speed up documentation, generate user flows, and improve overall delivery efficiency.
- Carry out the final manual validation of complex IAM features when automated testing is not enough, including real-world checks such as mobile push approvals and biometric or selfie-based identity verification.
- Keep demos in a ready-to-show state by creating quick feedback loops between developers and sales stakeholders so prototypes are polished enough for customer-facing presentations.
- Monitor sales and sales engineering processes and help align the team’s approach with business goals, recommending improvements where useful.
- Test application behavior across different browsers, devices, and mobile hardware as part of the role’s validation and troubleshooting work.
What the role is looking for
- About 2 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, technical support, systems analysis, or a similar environment.
- The ability to work independently and manage your work without needing constant daily guidance.
- Strong technical storytelling skills, with the ability to take vague business input and turn it into logical data flows, step-by-step journeys, and developer-ready requirements.
- A natural curiosity for how software behaves on different platforms, physical mobile devices, and browsers.
- Comfort using generative AI in practical day-to-day work; coding ability is not required.
- Exposure to identity and access management or cybersecurity concepts is a strong advantage and will help candidates stand out.
- Experience writing lean, context-rich prompts and using AI as a productivity tool is beneficial.
- Background in sales environments, sales engineering, or customer-facing technology roles is also helpful.
- Applicants should understand that this is a business analyst position focused on cybersecurity and IAM rather than a developer role.
