This role sits within an innovative deep-tech business developing advanced networking technology for AI/ML and high-performance computing applications. The company is focused on building next-generation systems that can deliver very high performance while also lowering energy consumption. The engineering team is looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer to help create the embedded and host software that powers high-speed networking and photonics-based platforms.
You would be working in a technically demanding environment where software, hardware, and systems engineering overlap. The position involves close collaboration with hardware and systems colleagues, with work spanning embedded software development, Linux driver work, and low-level integration tasks across sophisticated networking platforms.
What you would do
- Build and maintain embedded and host software for advanced networking and photonics hardware.
- Develop software for embedded Linux environments as part of the platform stack.
- Carry out Linux driver development, including work at kernel level and on PCIe-related drivers.
- Contribute to low-level integration of software with hardware and system components.
- Work alongside hardware and systems engineers to support bring-up and ongoing development of complex networking systems.
- Help deliver software for platforms designed to accelerate AI/ML and HPC workloads.
What the company is looking for
- Strong practical experience with embedded Linux development.
- Experience creating Linux kernel drivers or PCIe drivers.
- Very good programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
- Background working with ARM-based systems or soft-processor platforms.
- Exposure to networking systems, high-performance computing, or data-centre technology would be beneficial.
- Comfort working on low-level software and integrating it with complex hardware systems.
