An innovative and fast-expanding company in Cambridge is looking to add to its mechanical engineering function. The role sits within a supportive engineering environment and involves close collaboration with teams across engineering and manufacturing to help develop products that are both high quality and suitable for efficient production.

What you will do

• Create mechanical parts, subassemblies, and full assemblies for both new product development and improvements to existing products.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings for use in prototype builds and for manufacture at volume.
• Assist with prototype assembly and hands-on build activities during development stages.
• Write and maintain technical build documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Work alongside cross-functional colleagues in engineering and manufacturing to contribute to the delivery of well-designed, manufacturable products.

What the employer is looking for

• At least two years of professional experience in mechanical design or product design.
• Practical experience designing mechanical components and assemblies.
• Awareness of how mechanical design interacts with electrical integration.
• Knowledge of design-for-manufacture methods and principles.
• Experience using 3D CAD software and tools for mechanical analysis.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to take a hands-on approach to engineering tasks.
