Principal Analog IC Design Engineer ADC Overview

Company Name IC Resources Recruitment
Job Role Principal Analog IC Design Engineer ADC
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Edinburgh

This opportunity is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, and is aimed at a principal-level analog IC designer with deep sigma-delta ADC expertise. The role sits within one of the world’s highest-ranked semiconductor businesses and is centered on the development of next-generation audio IC architectures and circuits.

You would be joining a team of highly accomplished analog designers and taking a leading role in shaping the technical direction of future products. The position is not about making small adjustments to existing designs; instead, it is focused on creating new architectures, solving difficult technical problems, and helping define the direction of consumer audio technology across several product generations.

What you would do

  • Lead the definition of the architecture for advanced audio ICs, with a strong focus on sigma-delta ADC solutions.
  • Carry out circuit design work for complex analog and mixed-signal blocks.
  • Establish the verification strategy for the design effort and ensure it is suitable for delivering reliable silicon.
  • Guide and support silicon validation, using test results to inform design decisions and future product improvements.
  • Drive innovation by developing fresh architectural approaches rather than simply iterating on existing designs.
  • Contribute to the evolution of consumer audio products across multiple generations.
  • Collaborate with some of the most experienced analog engineers in the field.

What the employer is looking for

  • A master’s degree or doctorate in electronic engineering or a similar subject area.
  • At least 10 years of experience in analog IC design.
  • A proven background in designing high-performance, low-power delta-sigma ADCs and DACs from architectural concept through to production-ready silicon.
  • Broad experience with switching audio amplifier technologies, such as Class-D designs.
  • Knowledge of switching power conversion circuits, including buck and boost topologies.
  • Practical experience with precision analog circuitry such as amplifiers, bandgap references, bias circuits, and low-dropout regulators.
  • Strong communication ability, both in writing and in conversation.
  • A clear interest in audio technology; direct audio-sector experience is not essential, although it would be beneficial.
  • A track record showing originality and innovation in sigma-delta ADC and DAC development.

Package and support

  • The role comes with a market-leading compensation package.
  • Bonus and stock are included in the overall offer.
  • Visa sponsorship is available for the right person.
  • Relocation assistance is also available for the right person.
