| Company Name | Amazon |
| Job Role | Safety Technician |
| Qualifications | Not Specified |
| Category | IT Jobs |
| Job Type | Full Time |
| Location | Rest of UK |
This role sits within Amazonâs Workplace Health and Safety function and is focused on helping keep employees safe and well while they are at work. It offers an entry point into workplace safety within a large global business, with the chance to build experience by working alongside specialists and seeing the direct effect of your work on peopleâs wellbeing every day.
The position is site-based, so you will be working from one of Amazonâs locations and staying close to day-to-day operations. A key part of the job is identifying risks early, understanding how people use equipment and carry out tasks, and helping ensure that processes remain safe and compliant. The role also requires flexibility to work night shifts.
What you will do
- Complete risk assessments and carry out safety audits across the site.
- Check that site processes and working practices follow Amazonâs safety procedures.
- Prepare, update, and share reports on safety performance and key metrics for colleagues to review.
- Work with Operations and other parts of the business on safety-related activities, offering practical guidance on safe processes.
- Help introduce new safety measures and support their rollout on site.
- Spend time observing equipment, work methods, and site activity so that potential hazards can be identified before they lead to problems.
- Support the Operations team with additional safety work as needed, including tasks that arise unexpectedly.
- Gather and communicate safety data that helps the business monitor performance and stay ahead of emerging issues.
- Collaborate with teams across the organisation to encourage safe working and support the implementation of improvements.
- Contribute to Amazonâs wider safety and wellbeing standards by helping uphold strong workplace practices.
What the role is like day to day
You will be based on site, which means you can keep a close eye on what is happening in real time and be available to answer questions from colleagues during their shifts. Much of the work is about noticing possible issues before they become incidents. You will spend a significant amount of time walking the site, understanding how equipment is used, and learning how different tasks and machines fit together so you can think through the safest way to run them.
You will also help put safety changes into practice, which means working closely with a wide range of people. In addition to your regular daily and weekly responsibilities, you will support the Operations team with ad hoc safety work. A major part of the job is collecting important data, using it to understand how well processes are working, and sharing that information with people across the business so that safety remains a priority.
About the team

Whatever the position, team members contribute to developing, implementing, and maintaining Amazonâs standards for safety and wellbeing. The work can involve a variety of projects with colleagues from across the business, including inspections of equipment and processes, assessments of operational methods, and reviews of building and equipment design.
