This is a permanent, full-time engineering opportunity for candidates based in the UK. The role is centred on building intelligent digital products and modernising complex systems through the use of AI-enabled solutions. You would join a team of data and AI specialists, engineers, and designers who work with ambitious enterprises to create software that improves digital experiences, supports developers, and delivers measurable business outcomes.

What you will do

  • Design and develop applications using JavaScript or Python as the main technical stack.
  • Contribute to component architecture, implementation, and ongoing maintenance while taking ownership of your own technical quality within the team.
  • Help shape disciplined engineering practices, especially around source control, build pipelines, and deployment processes.
  • Create and implement solutions for storing and managing data.
  • Improve application performance so products run quickly and scale effectively.
  • Use feedback from users and clients to refine and improve the solutions being delivered.
  • Support the review and interpretation of client requirements.
  • Work closely with Technical Leads to help deliver projects successfully and on schedule.
  • Partner with client-side teams as part of collaborative delivery.
  • Contribute to secure, high-quality, high-performance software that solves practical business problems.

What the company is looking for

  • Strong senior-level engineering experience, with Nearform indicating that its senior engineers generally have at least seven years of commercial experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver software in agile teams.

  • Deep expertise in either JavaScript or Python.

  • Testing experience across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.

  • Experience working collaboratively through pull requests and code reviews.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • Ability to work as a permanent full-time employee in the UK.
  • Willingness to work on-site in London four days per week.

Interview process

  • A 30-minute introductory talent call over Zoom to discuss your background, experience, and career goals, and to give you an overview of Nearform.
  • A one-hour live technical assessment over Zoom, where you complete a coding challenge by screen sharing and demonstrate JavaScript skills, problem-solving ability, and sound coding practices.
  • A 45-minute hiring manager interview over Zoom focused on teamwork, client collaboration, and problem-solving in an enterprise development environment.
  • Depending on the project, there may also be an additional interview with the client.
