Company Name Capgemini
Job Role Senior Consultant – Cloud Operating Model Transformation
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Manchester

This role sits within Capgemini Invent’s Cloud Advisory capability and is focused on helping clients redesign how they operate in the cloud. It is a high-impact consulting position for someone who enjoys shaping operating models, service management and organisational change in environments where automation, data and AI are becoming central to how businesses run.

As a consultant or senior consultant in cloud operating model transformation, you will work directly with clients to assess their current cloud operating models, identify what needs to change, and design future-state ways of working that are more standardised, automated and ready for AI-enabled operations. The work combines strategy, hands-on transformation, service management, DevOps thinking and organisational design, with a strong emphasis on practical business outcomes.

What you will do

  • Advise clients on the organisational and operational consequences of cloud change, helping them build digitally enabled business models supported by cloud and data-led, AI-ready operating models.
  • Review existing cloud operating models and service management arrangements to find opportunities for better standardisation, stronger automation, improved data flows and greater readiness for AI-supported operations.
  • Translate assessment findings into future-state operating model designs, service management processes and organisational structures that are built around automation-first and AI-ready principles.
  • Design target cloud operating models, service management frameworks and organisational structures that reflect the client’s cloud maturity and strategic direction.
  • Define future processes across service delivery, governance and operational workflows so that the resulting model is measurable, workable and aligned to the client’s transformation goals.
  • Measure and review the maturity and effectiveness of cloud operating model change, using operational metrics, service data and insight to recommend further improvements.
  • Help introduce intelligent monitoring, service analytics and AIOps-style practices where they add value.
  • Use knowledge of strategy, service management, agile delivery, DevOps, business process mapping and organisation design to deliver business outcomes from cloud transformation.
  • Support the adoption of automation, intelligent workflows and AI-assisted operations within broader cloud programmes.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organisation to design, innovate and implement cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the growth of the consulting practice through client work, thought leadership and internal collaboration.
  • Advise on the use of large language models, copilot tools and agentic AI in cloud operating models, including practical applications such as service desk automation, intelligent triage and AI-supported decision-making.
  • Support clients in thinking through AI governance topics, including data quality and transparency.
  • Take part in business development work such as proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitches and client events.
  • Contribute internally through campaign work, think tanks, white papers, practice development, recruitment, team activities and offering development.
  • Participate in learning and development activities, including training and certifications that support your career growth and the capability needs of the business.

What the team is looking for

  • Experience helping organisations transform through technology and rework the way they operate.
  • Confidence working in a technology-driven setting and applying cloud thinking to business change.
  • Practical knowledge of ITIL best practices and frameworks, especially incident, change and problem management, plus service desk operations, along with an interest in how these processes evolve through automation and AI-enabled tooling.
  • An ITIL v4 or v5 Foundation qualification, or a higher-level ITIL certification, would be especially valued.
  • Hands-on familiarity with generative AI tools and platforms, and an understanding of how they connect to cloud operating models and ITSM workflows.
  • Interest in agentic AI patterns and how autonomous agents are beginning to reshape IT operations and service delivery.
  • Experience with DevOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous deployment, automated testing, infrastructure as code and modern delivery pipelines.
  • Ability to work with and architect solutions on major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, including core services like compute, storage, networking and security.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practice and compliance requirements so that cloud environments and automated services remain secure, resilient and aligned to standards and regulations.
  • Experience in a major consulting firm, or industry experience supported by a consulting background.
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a matrixed organisation and to win support from peers when selling and delivering consulting solutions.
  • Experience creating propositions and helping deliver them.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ongoing learning in AI, shown through certifications, personal projects, published thinking, community participation or internal practice contributions.
  • Ability to support business development by drawing on existing relationships, wider company relationships and your own network.
  • Willingness to work from a London, Manchester or Glasgow base while remaining fully flexible about assignment location, including the possibility of being away from home at short notice.
