Qualifications Bachelor’s
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location Rest of UK

This role is a hands-on operations leadership position in which you will manage a large and varied team in a fast-paced fulfilment environment. The purpose of the job is to help the site keep pace with customer demand while maintaining strong standards for safety, quality, productivity, and service. You will gain practical experience running complex operations in a global business and will work closely with colleagues to solve problems, improve processes, and keep day-to-day activity running smoothly.

What you will do

  • Lead and support a team in an operational area, helping to create a strong team culture while also taking care of administrative responsibilities.
  • Champion safety and wellbeing across your team and throughout the site.
  • Monitor performance, identify issues, and put corrective actions in place so quality and productivity remain consistently high and business goals are achieved across every shift.
  • Review how work is being carried out and suggest improvements that make operations more efficient and improve the customer experience.
  • Work with other managers to align shift processes and create more consistent ways of working.
  • Take responsibility for routine team management, daily operational priorities, individual escalations, process improvement tasks, and wider contingency planning.
  • Coordinate with colleagues in other teams and with outside partners so the operation stays aligned with customer demand and delivery targets.
  • Use data and performance metrics to support decisions, working with business leaders to understand results and with engineers to assess the practical benefits and drawbacks of technical changes.

What the role looks like day to day

You will be based at one of the operational sites and will work shifts. A major part of the job is making sure safety standards are upheld within your team and across the site, while also keeping processes efficient. Your day will typically involve balancing people management with operational work, including handling escalations, improving processes, and planning for larger-scale operational disruptions or contingencies. Because the role sits within the operations team, you will regularly collaborate with other internal teams and external partners to help the business meet customer expectations and performance targets.

The environment is highly operational, with many locations running around the clock, and the team is described as people-focused and supportive, especially where staff work overnight shifts. The wider logistics organisation also works on innovative delivery solutions and efforts to reduce environmental impact, supported by modern vehicles and technology, including electric vehicles.

What you need

  • A completed university degree at bachelor’s or master’s level before your start date, or a degree completed within the last 24 months.
  • Flexibility to work a shift pattern that may include weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to move wheeled dollies loaded with products weighing up to 100 pounds during shifts.
  • Experience analysing data.
  • Preferred but not essential: experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
  • Preferred but not essential: experience in a logistics or other operational environment.
  • Preferred but not essential: professional experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
