Software Development Engineer – Amazon Ads, Creative-X Overview

Company Name Amazon
Job Role Software Development Engineer – Amazon Ads, Creative-X
Qualifications Bachelor’s
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This role sits within Amazon Ads and the Creative-X organization, where the focus is on improving how advertisers and customers connect through automation, AI-driven systems, and creative tooling at scale. The team works on third-party ad serving inside Amazon DSP, building the infrastructure and user experiences that allow advertisers to manage and deliver externally hosted display and video creatives reliably and at high volume. The work spans validation, compliance, moderation, observability, and template support for a broad range of ad servers and creative formats.

What you will do

  • Lead the complete delivery of new features for creative validation services and third-party creative templates, taking ideas from design through implementation, rollout, and production support.
  • Handle advertiser-facing issues when creatives are rejected, whether that happens at campaign launch or during later eligibility checks, and work with product and account partners to get campaigns moving again.
  • Create and improve validation rules for video, streaming audio, and display creatives, including checks for technical requirements such as duration, resolution, bitrate, codec, audio channel configuration, and loudness.
  • Build and support creative templates for third-party ad serving across display and video, ensuring compatibility with widely used standards and formats and with major external ad servers.
  • Scale the underlying services so they can support increasing Streaming TV creative demand while keeping infrastructure efficient in terms of cost, performance, and response time.
  • Improve monitoring and diagnostics so that failures caused by advertisers can be distinguished from problems introduced by Amazon systems, making issues easier to identify and resolve.
  • Ship changes safely through CI/CD pipelines, join on-call coverage for incidents that affect advertisers, and monitor launches and experiments to understand their effect on campaigns and spend.
  • Work closely with product, customer, and engineering teams to translate new inventory specifications, formats, marketplaces, and surfaces into working validation logic and template support.
  • Investigate complex technical problems on your own or with teammates, and contribute to design discussions and collaborative reviews.
  • Operate in a fast-paced agile setting where daily coordination, rapid delivery, and visible production impact are part of the job.

Team and environment

You would join the 3PAS team, which owns third-party ad serving within Amazon DSP. The group is responsible for the delivery, validation, and management of externally hosted display and video creatives at scale, with real-time compliance checks, policy enforcement, and downstream moderation. The team is also developing agentic AI-based observability across the creative lifecycle so issues can be detected and addressed before they affect advertisers. Work spans both user interface extensibility and backend integrations, supporting a growing ecosystem of third-party ad servers and creative partners while maintaining customer trust and operational excellence.

The role is described as part of a high-performance, collaborative agile team where your work has immediate and visible impact. A typical day may include a standup with the team, triaging customer tickets, drafting solution designs for validation rules or infrastructure improvements, researching difficult problems, partnering with product and customer teams on new inventory requirements, deploying changes through CI/CD, and monitoring the effect of those changes on advertiser campaigns and ad spend.

What Amazon is looking for

  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, with a strong grasp of object-oriented design.
  • Professional software development experience in a non-internship setting.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been delivered successfully to customers.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Preferred experience across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
