This role sits within the Code Foundations team in the Developer Platform group, which is part of the Foundations organisation. The team reports to the Director of Engineering and supports a very large engineering population by providing the tools and standards that help thousands of engineers deliver software more quickly and with greater confidence. The work spans development environments, build pipelines, agentic development tooling, and mobile SDUI capabilities, with a strong focus on improving how engineering teams work at scale.<\/p>\n

Deliveroo is looking for a senior engineer who can help shape the future of code quality and developer productivity across a global codebase. The position is centered on defining and operationalising what strong engineering practice looks like, especially as the organisation adopts AI-assisted and agentic development workflows. The successful candidate will help drive change across multiple teams, influence technical standards, and ensure that improvements are measurable, repeatable, and aligned with business goals.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Identify opportunities to apply AI within the group, including areas such as developer support, testing, and prototyping, and then turn those opportunities into practical improvements.<\/li>\n
  • Work across teams and with stakeholders at all levels of seniority to introduce change effectively, making sure the wider organisation understands the direction of travel and is supported through the transition.<\/li>\n
  • Establish dependable AI-assisted ways of working that can be used consistently across all five teams in the group, including mobile engineering and developer tooling.<\/li>\n
  • Design agentic development workflows that include clear quality checks and rules so that AI-generated code is held to the same expectations as code written by engineers.<\/li>\n
  • Track the effect of engineering initiatives using data and metrics, and use those insights to improve efficiency and shape engineering standards across a distributed global setup.<\/li>\n
