The Alexa International Science team is seeking a senior applied scientist who is enthusiastic, inventive, and highly skilled in speech modeling and deep learning. The role focuses on building next-generation generative AI speech technology, including speech-to-speech systems and multilingual solutions, to improve how Alexa sounds and responds in international markets. At this senior level, the position also involves shaping scientific direction for speech quality across regions, working across teams, and delivering work that has meaningful impact across Alexa\u00e2\u0080\u0099s global products.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Design and develop new algorithms and modeling methods that advance multilingual speech generation, text-to-speech synthesis, and speech-to-speech modeling.<\/li>\n
  • Help create natural, expressive, and locale-aware voice experiences for Alexa+ that serve customers in many languages.<\/li>\n
  • Use Amazon\u00e2\u0080\u0099s large-scale computing infrastructure and varied data sources to improve speech synthesis, voice quality, and pronunciation accuracy for non-English locales.<\/li>\n
  • Set and drive scientific strategy for speech quality work across international regions, while collaborating with partner teams to align priorities and execution.<\/li>\n
  • Work with software engineers to improve model efficiency and readiness for production deployment.<\/li>\n
  • Work with product managers to ensure research efforts are aligned with customer needs and product direction.<\/li>\n
  • Review experimental results, refine model architectures, and continue iterating based on findings and customer feedback.<\/li>\n
  • Participate in science reviews, paper discussion groups, and collaborative ideation sessions with scientists across the organization.<\/li>\n
  • Influence and coordinate multiple teams around a common approach to international speech quality.<\/li>\n

    The Alexa International Tech team supports Alexa\u00e2\u0080\u0099s worldwide growth by building the science, engineering, evaluation, and quality platforms that enable global AI product delivery. The team works on multi-model AI orchestration, multilingual model and data readiness, speech and language quality, reward modeling, synthetic data generation, automated evaluation, developer tooling, defect analysis, and launch mechanisms. Its work sits at the intersection of applied AI, speech, distributed systems, developer experience, and customer quality automation. The overall aim is to help teams build Alexa+ experiences once and scale them across languages, countries, devices, models, and customer expectations in a reusable way.<\/p>\n
