This role sits at the centre of Amazon\u00e2\u0080\u0099s operations, where the focus is on getting customer orders processed, dispatched, and delivered efficiently and on time. As an Operations Manager in AMZL, you will help drive safety, quality, and productivity across the site while leading managers and shaping the operational plan that keeps the team on track. The position is about building strong day-to-day execution while also pushing continuous improvement and innovation across the operation.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of Area Managers so they can perform effectively and grow in their roles.<\/li>\n
  • Take charge of operational teams during shifts, handling issues as they arise and helping the site perform well.<\/li>\n
  • Review shift results against business targets and use that analysis to introduce actions that improve operational performance.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with support functions such as HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security to keep the site running effectively.<\/li>\n
  • Plan and implement initiatives across the site that strengthen operational results and support better ways of working.<\/li>\n
  • Act as a key link between finance, safety, and operations integration teams while staying closely connected to the realities of the site.<\/li>\n
  • Study performance and risk information, identify what needs attention, and prepare the operation for changes in demand.<\/li>\n
  • Coach and mentor your team regularly, helping them become stronger managers and more confident leaders.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute to new ideas and improvements that support Amazon\u00e2\u0080\u0099s wider logistics network and customer delivery experience.<\/li>\n
  • Help deliver the AMZL mission, which focuses on last-mile delivery in partnership with third-party distribution businesses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What the day-to-day looks like<\/h3>\n

    You will spend your time leading shifts at an operational site and working across several parts of the business. A normal day may include meetings with different teams, detailed reviews of site performance and risk measures, and forward planning for periods of higher or lower demand. You will also spend time mentoring your managers and providing the leadership they need to succeed.<\/p>\n

    The AMZL network handles the final stage of delivery for customers. It combines work carried out inside the site, where associates process products for dispatch, with work done on the road through Amazon Flex delivery contractors. The operation is highly people-focused and supportive, especially because many colleagues work overnight. Most locations operate on a 24\/7 shift basis. The wider team also works on innovative delivery services and efforts to reduce environmental impact through better logistics, new technology, and vehicles including electric options.<\/p>\n

    • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methods is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Experience in a logistics environment similar to this one is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook in a professional context is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Comfort working in a fast-paced operational setting with shift-based responsibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
