This is an opportunity to join a well-established, award-winning AI software company that develops advanced technology used by major organisations to handle and analyse very large collections of complex documents. The business has been operating for more than ten years and combines strong technical depth with practical, real-world outcomes. It works at enterprise scale while still keeping the pace and flexibility of a product-focused technology company.<\/p>\n

You would be joining a growing application engineering team and helping to build production systems at the intersection of software engineering, data, and applied AI. The role is based in Cambridge or London and follows a hybrid pattern with three days a week in the office. It is a permanent position with a salary of \u00c2\u00a350,000 to \u00c2\u00a365,000 depending on experience.<\/p>\n

What the role involves<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Developing end-to-end product features across a large and technically complex platform.<\/li>\n
  • Working on data-intensive systems where throughput, responsiveness, and scalability are important.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborating closely with product managers, QA colleagues, and AI research and development teams to deliver new functionality.<\/li>\n
  • Taking responsibility for features from the early design stage through implementation, release, and later refinement in production.<\/li>\n
  • Bringing forward your own ideas for improvements and enhancements rather than working only from tightly prescribed requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Technology environment<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • JavaScript and TypeScript.<\/li>\n
    • Node.js.<\/li>\n
    • Modern frontend frameworks, with the platform currently moving toward React.<\/li>\n
    • PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.<\/li>\n
    • AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with Java or Python would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      What they are looking for<\/h3>\n

      • A strong academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field, ideally with a first-class or 2:1 degree from a strong university.<\/li>\n
      • Typically 3 to 5 years of commercial software engineering experience, with some flexibility for outstanding candidates.<\/li>\n
      • Proven experience building software for production, ideally in a full-stack environment.<\/li>\n
      • Excellent problem-solving skills and clear logical thinking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
