The employer is a fast-growing technology company building high-voltage server systems for quantum analytics, and the role comes with full visa sponsorship support.<\/p>\n<h3>Role overview<\/h3>\n<p>You will be responsible for designing and developing high-power conversion systems above 10 kW, working across AC-AC, DC-DC and DC-AC platforms. The position covers the full engineering lifecycle, from early-stage simulation and modelling through prototype build, testing, validation and support for certification activities. It is a hands-on role for an engineer who can contribute to the development of next-generation hardware in a demanding, high-performance environment.<\/p>\n<h3>What you will do<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop advanced converter concepts and detailed designs for high-power systems, using PLECS, CADSTAR or similar engineering tools.<\/li>\n<li>Build and refine models to support design decisions and system performance analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Test prototypes across functional, thermal and electrical dimensions, then use the findings to improve the hardware.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare technical documentation, including safety-related files required for approvals and compliance.<\/li>\n<li>Support EMC and power compliance testing, and help implement design changes that reduce risk and improve performance.<\/li>\n<li>Apply knowledge of wide-bandgap technologies, particularly silicon-carbide-based solutions, in practical design work.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development of high-voltage server hardware used in quantum analytics applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What the employer is looking for<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A strong foundation in power electronics design, including control methods and system simulation.<\/li>\n<li>Practical experience with analogue and digital circuit development.<\/li>\n<li>Good understanding of switching devices, thermal management and electromagnetic assembly issues.<\/li>\n<li>Awareness of embedded control behaviour and EMC considerations.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with wide-bandgap power technologies, especially SiC systems, is particularly valuable.<\/li>\n<li>Background in energy, industrial or other high-power product development would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>A current CV is required when applying through KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Additional details<\/h3>\n<p>This is a permanent opportunity with KO2 Recruitment for a Power Electronics Engineer in the Newcastle area.
