Arm\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Vulnerability Research and Tooling team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help develop and scale Metis, the company\u00e2\u0080\u0099s central platform for security analysis. The team builds backend services and supporting tooling that allow engineering groups to run security analysis in a centralized way, with consistent operations, shared visibility, and security data that can be acted on across the business. This position is centered on expanding software composition analysis capabilities and strengthening the backend systems that make those capabilities work reliably at scale.<\/p>\n

In this role, you will focus on the services, integrations, and processing pipelines that turn analysis tooling into something engineering teams can actually use. The work includes onboarding tools into the platform, running analyses, handling and transforming results, and delivering those results in a usable form. You will also help improve the platform as usage grows, making it more scalable, resilient, and easier to operate. Over time, the work will also help create a stronger foundation for adjacent security tooling.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Design, build, and support the main backend services that underpin Arm\u00e2\u0080\u0099s centralized security analysis and data-processing platform.<\/li>\n
  • Create Python services, APIs, and workflow components that support tool onboarding, execution of analysis jobs, processing of outputs, and delivery of results.<\/li>\n
  • Improve the platform\u00e2\u0080\u0099s ability to scale, recover from issues, and remain easy to operate as more teams adopt it and analysis volume increases.<\/li>\n
  • Extend software composition analysis functionality and help establish backend building blocks that can support related security tools in the future.<\/li>\n
  • Introduce strong observability into the services by adding metrics, dashboards, monitoring, and alerting.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with security and engineering partners to convert requirements into practical platform capabilities.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the platform\u00e2\u0080\u0099s backend architecture and the way services connect and interact.<\/li>\n
  • Support tool integration and results processing so that analysis outputs are useful and accessible to engineering teams.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What Arm is looking for<\/h3>\n

    • Strong Python programming ability, plus comfort with scripting languages such as bash.<\/li>\n
    • Proven experience designing, building, and operating backend services or internal platforms in production.<\/li>\n
    • Good understanding of API design, backend architecture, and communication between services.<\/li>\n
    • Experience working in cloud environments, with AWS as the preferred background.<\/li>\n
    • Practical experience with containers and related tooling, such as Docker.<\/li>\n
    • Familiarity with CI\/CD approaches and modern engineering workflows.<\/li>\n
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across security and engineering teams.<\/li>\n
    • Knowledge of software composition analysis, dependency risk, and open source security concerns is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with SCA tools and the ability to interpret their findings would be an advantage.<\/li>\n
    • Exposure to large-scale analysis pipelines, data processing, or workflow orchestration would be helpful.<\/li>\n
    • Familiarity with observability tooling, operational metrics, and service health dashboards would be useful.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with React or a similar front-end framework would be a plus.<\/li>\n
    • Interest in security tooling, vulnerability research, and scalable analysis platforms is welcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
