This role sits within Google\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Network Infrastructure Engineering organization and focuses on the fiber design and capacity planning that support data centers around the world. The position is intended for a senior technical program management leader who can combine deep technical knowledge with strong leadership, helping shape global fiber design standards and capacity planning while also guiding teams and stakeholders across regions.<\/p>\n

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you would be expected to lead complex engineering programs that span multiple disciplines. The work involves defining requirements with internal partners, driving projects through the full lifecycle, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and communicating those risks clearly to the people who need to know. The role also requires comfort moving between executive-level discussions and detailed technical conversations with engineers, while using both technical judgment and leadership experience to manage engineering programs and teams.<\/p>\n

In this specific position, you would support the broader Technical Infrastructure mission that keeps Google\u00e2\u0080\u0099s products running. The team is responsible for the systems and architecture behind Google\u00e2\u0080\u0099s services, including data centers and the infrastructure that powers them. Within that environment, you would help improve global fiber design and capacity planning, drawing on your experience in fiber design engineering and capacity management to mentor others and contribute to the wider Google Global Infrastructure organization.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Lead technical reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for network areas in facilities owned by Google.<\/li>\n
  • Coach and support team members working across different regions.<\/li>\n
  • Own planning and reporting for rack space and power capacity.<\/li>\n
  • Define standards and help shape the global design approach for spaces owned by Google.<\/li>\n
  • Oversee team-level reporting for projects and resource planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What you need<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • A bachelor\u00e2\u0080\u0099s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.<\/li>\n
    • RCDD certification or another comparable industry qualification.<\/li>\n
    • Eight or more years of experience in fiber construction, installation, and testing.<\/li>\n
    • Eight or more years of experience managing people.<\/li>\n
    • Experience producing cross-functional reporting and insights tied to capacity management and reporting.<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrated ability to own outcomes, make decisions, work through ambiguity, and influence stakeholders at a deep level of expertise.<\/li>\n
    • Experience working with customer or product requirements for data center construction projects is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Strong leadership capability and the ability to organize work, manage stakeholders, and help a global cross-functional team operate effectively in a fast-changing environment.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent skills in organization, multitasking, prioritization, and attention to detail.<\/li>\n
    • Strong written and spoken communication skills.<\/li>\n
    • A data-informed, investigative mindset for solving difficult problems.<\/li>\n
    • Financial skills or experience are considered an advantage.<\/li>\n
