Arup is looking for an experienced Transport Modeller to join its Transport Consulting team, working in a collaborative and creative environment at the centre of the company\u00e2\u0080\u0099s transport planning and modelling capability. The team operates across the UK and internationally and works alongside multidisciplinary colleagues and a wider global modelling community to support complex, high-profile transport projects that contribute to more sustainable and resilient transport networks.<\/p>\n

This opportunity is aimed at ambitious transport modellers who want to take on challenging work, strengthen their strategic modelling expertise, and broaden their technical toolkit. The position covers the full modelling workflow, from handling and analysing data through to building models, producing forecasts, testing different intervention options, assessing schemes, preparing reports, creating visual outputs, and engaging with clients. The role also offers the chance to contribute to bids and to work closely with senior modellers and project managers on important assignments.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Build and develop strategic transport models that support project delivery and bid work.<\/li>\n
  • Use data, modelling techniques, and innovative approaches to help solve real transport problems.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare forecasts of future transport conditions and assess how different mitigation measures or scenarios would perform.<\/li>\n
  • Carry out scheme assessment and appraisal work as part of the modelling process.<\/li>\n
  • Take responsibility for tasks across the full modelling lifecycle, including data analysis, model development, reporting, and visualisation.<\/li>\n
  • Work directly with clients as part of the wider project team and contribute to clear communication of technical findings.<\/li>\n
  • Partner with senior transport modellers and project managers on challenging and high-profile schemes.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and different geographies, with the possibility of supporting projects elsewhere in the UK and internationally when required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What Arup is looking for<\/h3>\n

    • Previous experience in transport modelling, ideally covering highways, public transport, and\/or multimodal models.<\/li>\n
    • Practical experience using one or more of the following tools: VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, or MATSim.<\/li>\n
    • Experience in model development, calibration, and validation.<\/li>\n
    • A strong understanding of TAG requirements, forecasting, and scenario testing.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent data analysis skills and the ability to produce clear, well-structured technical reports and notes.<\/li>\n
    • High standards of presentation in written and technical outputs.<\/li>\n
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both on your own and as part of a multidisciplinary team.<\/li>\n
    • An interest in developing strategic modelling capability further and growing within a supportive team environment.<\/li>\n
