This opportunity sits within Arup\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Transport Consulting team, part of the organisation\u00e2\u0080\u0099s wider transport planning and modelling capability. The team works in a collaborative, creative setting and contributes to a broad mix of transport planning work across the UK and internationally. The role is intended for an experienced transport modeller who wants to take on challenging, high-profile assignments, strengthen strategic modelling expertise, and continue developing within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.<\/p>\n

The work covers the full modelling process, from handling and analysing data through to building models, producing forecasts, testing different future scenarios, assessing schemes, and communicating findings to clients and colleagues. The team supports complex transport projects that help shape more sustainable and resilient transport networks, and the successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to both project delivery and bid work.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Build and apply strategic transport models to support major transport schemes and proposals.<\/li>\n
  • Use data, modelling tools and new approaches to tackle real transport planning challenges.<\/li>\n
  • Work with senior modellers and project managers on project delivery and bid preparation.<\/li>\n
  • Develop forecasts for future transport conditions and assess the effects of different mitigation options.<\/li>\n
  • Carry out scheme testing and appraisal as part of wider transport modelling studies.<\/li>\n
  • Participate in all stages of the modelling workflow, including data analysis, model development, reporting, visual presentation of results and client-facing discussions.<\/li>\n
  • Work alongside colleagues from different disciplines and locations, including support for projects elsewhere in the UK and overseas when required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Practical experience in transport modelling, with work across highway, public transport and\/or multimodal models.<\/li>\n
    • Proven use of at least one of the following modelling platforms: VISUM, SATURN, CUBE or MATSim.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with model development, calibration and validation.<\/li>\n
    • Understanding of TAG requirements, forecasting approaches and scenario testing.<\/li>\n
    • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to turn technical work into clear reports and notes.<\/li>\n
    • High standards of written presentation and attention to detail.<\/li>\n
    • Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively both on your own and as part of a multidisciplinary team.<\/li>\n
