Arup is looking for an experienced Transport Modeller to join its Transport Consulting team. The position sits within a collaborative and creative environment at the centre of the company\u00e2\u0080\u0099s transport planning and modelling work. The team operates across the UK and internationally and works closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and the wider global transport modelling community. The work supports complex, high-profile transport projects that contribute to more sustainable and resilient transport networks.<\/p>\n

What the role involves<\/h3>\n

  • Building and applying strategic transport models to support major schemes, project work, and bid activity.<\/li>\n
  • Using data, modelling tools, and innovative approaches to solve real transport planning and modelling challenges.<\/li>\n
  • Working alongside senior modellers and project managers to develop models, test future scenarios, and assess mitigation options.<\/li>\n
  • Taking part in the full modelling workflow, from initial data analysis and model development through to reporting, visualisation, and client-facing discussions.<\/li>\n
  • Contributing to scheme appraisal and assessment work for a range of transport projects.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborating with colleagues across different disciplines, offices, and geographies, including support for work elsewhere in the UK and overseas when required.<\/li>\n

    • Previous experience in transport modelling, ideally covering highways, public transport, and\/or multimodal models.<\/li>\n
    • Practical experience using one or more of VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, or MATSim.<\/li>\n
    • Experience in developing models, calibrating them, and validating their outputs.<\/li>\n
    • A solid understanding of TAG requirements, forecasting, and scenario testing.<\/li>\n
    • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to turn modelling results into clear, well-structured technical notes and reports.<\/li>\n
    • High standards of written presentation and attention to detail.<\/li>\n
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on your own as well as within a wider multidisciplinary team.<\/li>\n
    • An interest in developing further as a strategic modeller and expanding your technical toolkit within a supportive team environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
