Arup is looking for a Data Security Lead to take charge of a newly created data security service within its Cyber Resilience function. This is a senior role with responsibility for defining how the service will operate, what it will deliver, and how success will be measured. The position sits within the Digital Technology Group and works alongside teams focused on security operations, governance, risk and compliance, identity and access management, security engineering, and privileged access management to help protect Arup\u00e2\u0080\u0099s platforms, information, and data.<\/p>\n

The role is designed for someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will be expected to establish the service from the ground up, create the operating model, set the roadmap, and ensure the work translates into lasting operational outcomes. A key part of the job is to provide clear ownership for data security across the organisation and to turn Arup\u00e2\u0080\u0099s data security plan into a prioritised programme of work that can be delivered over multiple years.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Take full ownership of Arup\u00e2\u0080\u0099s new data security service and define its vision, structure, roadmap, and measures of success.<\/li>\n
  • Convert the organisation\u00e2\u0080\u0099s data security plan into a clear delivery roadmap that is sequenced and prioritised over several years.<\/li>\n
  • Cover the main areas of data security in that roadmap, including governance, data classification, data loss prevention, encryption, monitoring, and resilience.<\/li>\n
  • Provide a single point of accountability for data security outcomes across the business.<\/li>\n
  • Build the team and establish the governance needed to support the service.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with colleagues across Cyber and with wider stakeholders to make sure data protection is embedded into everyday operations and project delivery.<\/li>\n
  • Advise senior stakeholders and technical teams on difficult data security risks and help shape the right response.<\/li>\n
  • Track progress, keep priorities aligned, and drive ongoing improvement in how data is protected throughout its lifecycle.<\/li>\n
  • Operate at both the strategic and operational levels, ensuring the service is not only designed well but also delivered effectively in practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
