An established multinational engineering business is expanding its digital design capability and is seeking an FPGA Engineer to join the team in Hertfordshire. The work sits within highly demanding defence and security programmes, where the emphasis is on performance, dependability, and secure operation. The role covers a wide range of FPGA-based applications, including advanced signal processing, embedded systems, and platforms where safety and security are central concerns. You will be involved across the full development lifecycle, helping to take ideas from early concept through architecture, implementation, verification, integration, validation, and ultimately deployment. The position also offers scope to influence technical decisions and to work with modern FPGA technologies on challenging engineering programmes.<\/p>\n

What you will be doing<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Design FPGA solutions for complex defence and security systems where reliability and performance are critical.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute to a varied portfolio of FPGA work spanning signal processing, embedded applications, and safety- or security-focused platforms.<\/li>\n
  • Take responsibility for architecture-level thinking as well as detailed RTL implementation.<\/li>\n
  • Support verification activities, integration work, and system validation to ensure designs meet project requirements.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with engineers from other disciplines to deliver complete solutions for technically challenging programmes.<\/li>\n
  • Participate throughout the product lifecycle, from initial concept development through to final deployment.<\/li>\n
  • Help guide technical choices and apply current FPGA technologies to solve difficult design problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Practical FPGA development experience using VHDL and\/or SystemVerilog.<\/li>\n
    • Experience working with FPGA families from Xilinx, Intel, or Microchip.<\/li>\n
    • Understanding of FPGA verification approaches and the use of simulation tools.<\/li>\n
    • Familiarity with FPGA design flows, including timing closure and associated toolchains.<\/li>\n
    • Embedded software development experience in C.<\/li>\n
    • Clear documentation habits and strong communication skills.<\/li>\n
    • Additional experience in DSP, image processing, RF systems, embedded processing, or safety-critical engineering would be an advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
