This opportunity is for a senior photonics specialist who will take on the technical lead for photonic integrated circuit development within a startup environment in Oxfordshire. The role is centred on providing deep technical authority across the full PIC lifecycle, from early architecture and design decisions through to fabrication coordination, packaging strategy, and device testing. What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Act as the main technical authority for photonic integrated circuit development across the organisation.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute to system and device architecture, detailed design work, fabrication engagement, packaging planning, and characterisation activities.<\/li>\n
  • Use practical engineering judgement to bridge the gap between research concepts and products that can be manufactured at scale.<\/li>\n
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams and external partners to support the successful development and delivery of advanced photonic devices.<\/li>\n
  • Influence and help define the company\u00e2\u0080\u0099s broader photonics roadmap and technical direction.<\/li>\n

    • The ability to manage the full development journey from concept and modelling through to a manufacturable photonic system.<\/li>\n
    • A postgraduate qualification at MSc or PhD level in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related subject.<\/li>\n
    • Significant industry experience or advanced research experience in integrated photonics or optical device development.<\/li>\n
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.<\/li>\n
    • Confidence operating in a startup environment where priorities may move quickly and technical leadership is expected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
