This role sits within Google\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Network Infrastructure Engineering organization, which is responsible for fiber design and capacity planning across data centers worldwide. The position is intended for a senior technical program management leader who can combine deep fiber design engineering knowledge with strong program leadership to improve global fiber design standards and capacity planning. The work supports the broader Technical Infrastructure mission that keeps Google\u00e2\u0080\u0099s products and services running by building and maintaining the underlying data center and network architecture.<\/p>\n

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you would be expected to lead complex engineering initiatives that span multiple disciplines. The role involves working with internal partners to define requirements, guiding projects through the full lifecycle, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and communicating those risks clearly to stakeholders. You would also need to move comfortably between executive-level discussions and detailed technical conversations with engineers, using both technical depth and leadership experience to manage engineering programs and teams.<\/p>\n

  • Lead technical reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for network spaces in facilities owned by Google.<\/li>\n

  • Set standards and help shape the global design approach for Google-owned spaces.<\/li>\n

    What the team does<\/h3>\n

    The Network Infrastructure Engineering team focuses on fiber design and capacity planning for data centers around the globe. In this role, you would help improve those global designs and planning processes while bringing subject-matter expertise in fiber design engineering and capacity management to the wider Network Infrastructure Engineering organization and the larger Google Global Infrastructure team.<\/p>\n

    Minimum qualifications<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • A bachelor\u00e2\u0080\u0099s degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.<\/li>\n
    • RCDD certification or a similar industry-recognized credential.<\/li>\n
    • Eight years of experience in fiber construction, installation, and testing.<\/li>\n
    • Eight years of experience managing people.<\/li>\n
    • Experience creating cross-functional reporting and insights tied to capacity management and reporting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Preferred qualifications<\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Experience collecting customer or product requirements for data center build projects.<\/li>\n
      • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and stakeholder management skills in a fast-paced, global, cross-functional environment.<\/li>\n
      • Strong ability to organize work, handle multiple priorities, and manage competing tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy.<\/li>\n
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n
      • A data-driven, investigative mindset for solving difficult problems, together with financial skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
