The Systems Media IP group develops the multimedia intellectual property that underpins Arm Compute Subsystems across a range of markets, including automotive, IoT, and client devices. Its work covers image signal processors, display processors, and video codecs, along with the RTL, reference drivers, tools, and libraries that customers use to build their own products on top of Arm technology.<\/p>\n

This opening is for a creative and motivated design engineer to join a diverse team focused on pushing the limits of power, performance, and area across Arm\u00e2\u0080\u0099s multimedia IP portfolio. The team is also committed to producing designs that are robust, maintainable, and ready to ship at the quality level customers expect. Because this is a newly formed team, there is significant opportunity to influence how it develops, while also creating room for your own progression and growth.<\/p>\n

What you will do<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Own work at different levels depending on your background, from a single unit through a larger hierarchy of blocks, or potentially acting as the technical lead for an entire IP.<\/li>\n
  • Develop and verify new hardware blocks that bring innovative imaging algorithms and\/or video codec capabilities into silicon.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute across the full hardware design process, including architectural exploration, modelling, requirements and specification writing, design and simulation, support for backend implementation, and long-term maintenance of the IP.<\/li>\n
  • Spot opportunities to improve shared processes and methods across the media IP organisation, then help implement those improvements to make hardware development more efficient.<\/li>\n
  • Work side by side with verification engineers, modelling teams, software driver developers, multimedia architects, and imaging researchers to deliver complete solutions.<\/li>\n
  • Guide and support colleagues in the team, including mentoring others where appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What you need<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Background in ASIC RTL design, preferably in multimedia IP such as ISPs, display processors, or video processors, or in related high-performance IP such as CPUs, GPUs, interconnects, memory controllers, or other demanding peripherals.<\/li>\n
    • Practical experience with SystemVerilog, Verilog, or VHDL.<\/li>\n
    • Experience working through the full design lifecycle, from early concept and specification through implementation, validation, documentation, and support.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work in UNIX-based environments and use scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, Python, or shell scripting.<\/li>\n
    • For more advanced roles, prior technical leadership and\/or team leadership experience is required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Useful additional experience<\/h3>\n
        \n
      • Knowledge of advanced image-processing methods such as local tone mapping, noise reduction, motion estimation, transform coding, or AI\/ML-based computer vision techniques.<\/li>\n
      • Experience designing hardware that complies with common industry protocols and interfaces, such as AMBA or DDR.<\/li>\n
      • Background in functional safety development for automotive applications, including standards such as ISO 26262 and\/or IEC 61508.<\/li>\n
      • Programming ability in MATLAB, C, or C++.<\/li>\n
      • Experience using SystemVerilog Assertions and continuous integration pipelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
