This role sits within a structured teaching programme in the School of Mathematics & Statistics and is intended to support an excellent learning experience for students, mainly at undergraduate level. What you will do<\/h3>\n

  • Support the planning, organisation, and delivery of undergraduate teaching.<\/li>\n
  • Carry out a variety of teaching and assessment tasks for undergraduate subjects.<\/li>\n
  • Manage course administration tasks within set deadlines, including sharing information, marking, assessment, and providing prompt, constructive feedback.<\/li>\n
  • Help develop teaching materials and ensure that the content and delivery approach support the intended learning outcomes.<\/li>\n
  • Use learning technologies to improve teaching, course organisation, feedback, and assessment, including blended and online delivery tools such as Moodle and other IT resources.<\/li>\n
  • Use your subject expertise to teach in ways that meet the needs of individual learners and groups, using an inclusive and evidence-informed approach that encourages participation and achievement.<\/li>\n
  • Take part in the full assessment process, including oral assessment where required, and provide feedback that is timely, relevant, and supportive of student learning.<\/li>\n
  • Support student projects, dissertations, and practical work by advising on methods, techniques, and skills that help students apply and transfer knowledge.<\/li>\n
  • Respond appropriately to a wide range of learner support needs.<\/li>\n
  • Take part in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.<\/li>\n
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Head of School.<\/li>\n

    What you need<\/h3>\n

    • You must already be a University of Glasgow student and must have been given the vacancy number by your Local School Administrator in order for your application to be processed.<\/li>\n
    • You should hold an honours degree at SCQF Level 10 in a subject relevant to the teaching area, or have equivalent expertise in a relevant field, together with an understanding of the principles of teaching, learning, and assessment.<\/li>\n
    • You must be registered for, and actively working toward, a PhD (MPhil\/PhD) or a PGT qualification in a relevant subject.<\/li>\n
    • You need strong knowledge of the subject area.<\/li>\n
    • You should have experience of teaching or supporting undergraduate or postgraduate students in online, distance learning, or in-person environments.<\/li>\n
    • You should have experience supervising, mentoring, or teaching students in practical or active learning settings.<\/li>\n
    • You should bring relevant administrative experience, such as student support or course administration.<\/li>\n
    • You need strong communication and presentation skills.<\/li>\n
    • You should be able to use IT systems and software packages that support teaching and learning.<\/li>\n
    • You must be able to work independently and also contribute effectively as part of a team.<\/li>\n
    • You should be able to work to deadlines.<\/li>\n
