This is an opportunity for an experienced verification engineer to join Arm\u00e2\u0080\u0099s CPU organization in Cambridge and help develop the next generation of CPU products. The role is centered on building and improving simulation-based verification environments for future CPU IP, working closely with both design and verification colleagues. You will have real influence over design and verification choices, and your work will contribute to technology that powers billions of devices around the world.<\/p>\n

As CPU designs continue to grow in complexity, strong and efficient verification is critical to delivering reliable products. In this role, you will apply modern simulation-driven verification methods, tackle challenging technical problems, and help push CPU verification forward. What you will do<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Take responsibility for verification in a specific area of the CPU, covering the work from unit-level testbench development through to the broader verification plan for that area.<\/li>\n
  • Deliver functional verification work that meets the expected quality standards and project deadlines.<\/li>\n
  • Write test plans, define verification strategies, and set coverage targets.<\/li>\n
  • Work with project leads and management to plan work, set schedules, and agree quality checkpoints.<\/li>\n
  • Use data and analysis to track verification progress, measure coverage, and assess product quality.<\/li>\n
  • Help improve verification methodology and engineering productivity within the CPU team and across Arm\u00e2\u0080\u0099s wider verification community.<\/li>\n
  • Investigate issues found during verification, debug failures, and lead root-cause analysis.<\/li>\n
  • Build and refine simulation-focused verification environments for upcoming CPU IP.<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate closely with design and verification teams and contribute to decisions that affect both areas.<\/li>\n
  • Apply and evolve modern simulation-based verification techniques to solve difficult problems and improve verification effectiveness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What you need<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Experience creating verification environments for complex RTL designs.<\/li>\n
    • Strong practical knowledge of SystemVerilog.<\/li>\n
    • Experience using scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.<\/li>\n
    • A clear understanding of the full verification lifecycle, from test planning through to verification closure.<\/li>\n
    • The ability to quickly understand detailed specifications and convert them into effective verification scenarios.<\/li>\n
    • Good knowledge of computer architecture fundamentals, including pipelining, exception handling, and memory systems.<\/li>\n
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to a variety of audiences.<\/li>\n
    • Experience with Arm architecture is preferred.<\/li>\n
    • Experience using UVM or a comparable verification methodology is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Programming experience in C\/C++ and Python is beneficial.<\/li>\n
    • Experience verifying microprocessor or CPU designs is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Understanding of constrained-random stimulus, functional coverage, checking techniques, and behavioural reference models is helpful.<\/li>\n
    • Experience carrying out detailed technical reviews of verification or design work is desirable.<\/li>\n
    • Interest in using AI tools and techniques to improve engineering productivity is welcome.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
