Operations sits at the centre of Amazonâs business, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled and dispatched efficiently so items arrive on time. In this role, you would be responsible for helping a site run smoothly, leading a team that keeps operations safe, efficient, and consistently high in quality, while also taking ownership of projects across the network that improve productivity.
What you would do
- Lead and support a team responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, high-quality operations at the site.
- Work a night-shift schedule on a rotating pattern of Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday.
- Build, maintain, and actively promote a strong culture of safety and wellbeing.
- Review quality and productivity performance, identify where improvements are needed, and put changes in place to keep standards high.
- Take ownership of projects that simplify processes, improve productivity, and raise the quality of service delivered to customers in your area.
- Measure shift performance against business targets and implement actions that improve operational excellence.
- Collaborate with other managers and senior colleagues to align and standardise shift practices.
- Handle a varied day that can include team leadership, routine operational work, process improvement activity, and contingency planning for larger-scale operational issues.
- Act as a mentor and example for newly appointed managers.
- Contribute to broader operational improvements across Amazonâs network where needed.
What Amazon is looking for
- A bachelorâs degree, or a masterâs degree, in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing people.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing their decisions.
- Experience using data to guide business choices.
- Comfort working a night-shift pattern at one of Amazonâs sites.
- Preferred experience with Lean or Six Sigma analytical approaches.
- Preferred experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or a comparable environment.
- Preferred professional experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Team and role context
This position is part of Amazonâs UK Services Ltd. operations organisation and is based at the Haydock fulfilment and operations management site in Great Britain. The role is focused on site-level operational leadership, with responsibility for safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement in a fast-moving fulfilment environment.
