In this role, you would lead licensing and regulatory affairs for Africa as part of Amazon Leo Global Licensing in EMEA. The position is centered on building and executing the licensing approach across a wide portion of the region, covering everything from satellite earth station approvals and telecom service compliance to influencing non-geostationary satellite orbit policy at national, regional, and international levels. The role is designed for someone who can translate complicated regulatory requirements into practical advantages for the business, both immediately and over the longer term.

What you would do

• Build and execute licensing plans across African countries, including the approvals needed for satellite systems, gateway stations, user terminals, spectrum use, and service delivery rights.
• Lead efforts to shape the regulatory landscape for NGSO services by engaging with regulators, trade bodies, and other industry participants on policy topics such as spectrum access, space sustainability, and safety.
• Identify regulatory and compliance issues early, reduce the chance that they become blockers, and keep the business compliant across multiple jurisdictions.
• Work across legal, policy, engineering, and commercial teams to support the launch and scaling of Kuiper services.
• Represent Amazon Leo in national and regional telecommunications bodies, build relationships with public officials, and coordinate closely with the wider international regulatory organization.
• Contribute to the broader effort of bringing satellite broadband to communities that need connectivity, while operating in a highly complex regulatory environment.

You would report to the Head of Licensing and International Regulatory Affairs for EMEA and work with a global team focused on the future of satellite communications. • A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, or a similar technical background, is preferred.
