What you would do

  • Serve as the leading immigration expert for EMEA, taking ownership of the most difficult cases and improving how the function operates over time.
  • Modernize regional immigration processes by introducing automation and AI-enabled tools that make support faster and easier for employees to use.
  • Partner with hiring and mobility stakeholders to help secure global talent and resolve immigration issues affecting candidates and employees.
  • Develop and own the regional immigration strategy, using data and business insight to advise executives and support international growth.
  • Monitor legal and policy developments, maintain audit readiness, and coordinate rapid responses across teams when regulatory changes create risk.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and help shape practical, scalable solutions for business-critical escalations.

What the role requires

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least five years working in global immigration, mobility, or a similar field.
  • Experience from an immigration law firm, whether as an attorney, paralegal, or executive specialist.
  • Experience managing an internal corporate immigration function in a multinational organisation.
  • For the preferred candidate profile, eight or more years of relevant immigration or mobility experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead incident response, manage policy changes under pressure, and maintain continuity during sudden regulatory shifts.
  • Deep knowledge of EMEA immigration pathways, sponsor licence compliance, and regional labour markets.
  • A track record of building, scaling, and running complex regional compliance and immigration programmes with high volumes.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous situations, making decisions, and influencing stakeholders with strong subject-matter expertise.
  • English fluency, which Google says is required for all roles unless the posting says otherwise.

Compensation and other details

The posting lists Ireland pay at €142,000 to €146,000, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Google also notes that equity awards are granted at Alphabet’s discretion and are subject to the relevant stock plan, board or delegate approval, and the grant agreement.
