This role sits at the centre of Amazonâs operations, where the focus is on getting customer orders processed and dispatched efficiently so deliveries arrive on time. The position is designed for someone who can bring managers and teams together, raise standards in safety, quality, and productivity, and help shape the next stage of operational performance across the site. It is a leadership role with responsibility for day-to-day execution as well as longer-term improvement.
What you will do
- Lead and support a team of Area Managers, helping them develop and perform at a high level.
- Take ownership of operational shifts, handle issues as they come up, and make a positive difference to site results.
- Review how each shift performs against the relevant business targets and introduce practical actions that improve efficiency and operational excellence.
- Work in close partnership with support functions such as HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security to keep operations aligned and effective.
- Plan, design, and implement initiatives across the site that improve performance and strengthen how the operation runs.
- Serve as an important link between finance, safety, and operations integration teams, ensuring coordination across multiple parts of the business.
- Participate in meetings with different business areas, examine performance and risk information in depth, and prepare the site for changes in demand.
- Coach and mentor your team on an ongoing basis, providing the guidance and leadership they need to become stronger managers.
What the role looks like day to day
You will spend your time leading shifts at one of Amazonâs operational sites while staying closely connected to the wider business. The job combines hands-on site leadership with involvement in innovation and improvement work. A normal day may include cross-functional meetings, detailed reviews of site performance and risk measures, forward planning for demand changes, and regular support for your team through coaching and mentoring.
What Amazon is looking for
- A bachelorâs degree or a masterâs degree.
- Experience managing people and working effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience using data to make sound business decisions.
- Experience in transportation or supply chain work in a high-volume logistics, manufacturing, or engineering setting.
- Advanced ability in spoken and written English.
- Intermediate ability in the local language.
Nice-to-have experience
- Experience using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen approaches.
- Experience working in a similar logistics environment.
- Professional experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
