Operations Supervisor, Quick Commerce Overview
| Company Name | Amazon |
| Job Role | Operations Supervisor, Quick Commerce |
| Qualifications | Not Specified |
| Category | IT Jobs |
| Job Type | Full Time |
| Location | Manchester |
This role sits at the centre of Amazonâs operational activity and is focused on keeping shift performance running smoothly in a fast-paced fulfilment environment. It is a practical, hands-on position where you will help coordinate daily work, support team members, and make sure processes are followed so customer orders are processed and dispatched on time. The role is based in Salford and requires a commitment of 32 hours each week.
As an Operations Lead/Supervisor, you will be the first person team members turn to during their shift. You will help guide them through the processes established by management, support them in completing their tasks, and use the tools and systems that underpin successful operations. The role gives you visibility across the full operation and the chance to understand how the different parts of the business connect to keep service levels high.
What you will do
- Track workflow activity, review on-site performance, and share important shift information with frontline managers so operational standards are maintained across shifts.
- Support, coach, and train employees so they can provide excellent service and carry out their daily responsibilities effectively.
- Work alongside the Shift/Area Manager on projects that improve processes, strengthen safety, and increase employee engagement.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve recurring issues and support areas where performance needs attention.
- Use data and performance metrics to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Help run pre-shift briefings, check that procedures are being followed, and ensure the team understands safety expectations, quality requirements, and the dayâs priorities.
- Escalate problems to management when necessary, and sometimes take the lead on shift when you are the most senior person present.
- Assist with shift planning so the right number of people are available during peak periods.
What the day-to-day looks like
You will be working from one of Amazonâs operational sites and supporting the Shift/Area Manager in delivering the shift plan. That can include helping to prepare the team before work starts, monitoring whether procedures are being followed, and making sure the operation stays aligned with safety, quality, and productivity expectations. When issues arise, you will raise them to your manager, but there may also be times when you are the most senior person on site and need to give clear direction to keep work moving. You will also help with planning so staffing levels match demand, especially during busy periods.
About the Quick Commerce team
The Quick Commerce business delivers ultra-fast convenience through a network of small warehouse locations in city centres, working with last-mile delivery providers to get products to customers in 30 minutes or less. The team combines creative thinking with technology to fulfil urgent shopping needs, offering a carefully selected range of grocery products and Amazon essentials.
The operation has two main parts. The first is the work carried out inside the site, where associates pick and pack orders quickly so the 30-minute delivery promise can be met. This side of the operation is people-focused and runs across morning and afternoon shifts, seven days a week. The second part is the delivery network, which mainly uses Amazon Flex delivery partners on e-bikes designed for fast urban delivery.
The team is focused on improving customer experience through innovation and sustainable delivery approaches in dense urban areas, while also maintaining strict quality and food safety standards. It brings together Amazonâs retail and logistics strengths, drawing on operational excellence from Fresh and AMZL. The environment is collaborative and encourages practical problem-solving and continuous improvement as the business works to reshape convenience shopping through rapid delivery.
What you need
- Professional experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Advanced written and spoken ability in the local language at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference.
- Relevant experience using data analytics and performance measures to identify issues and support problem-solving.
- Comfort working in a hands-on operational setting and supporting shift-based activity.
- Ability to communicate clearly, supervise others, and help keep work organised in a busy environment.
Preferred background
- Experience managing stakeholders and maintaining effective professional relationships.
- Experience in an operational environment such as logistics, retail, hospitality, or customer service.
