This role sits within the Flex Planning team and focuses on building cost-effective, adaptable capacity solutions that help Amazon Operations handle year-round activity and scale up for seasonal peaks. The work supports a last-mile delivery network that is designed to improve how customer orders are fulfilled and delivered, with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency. The position is based in a corporate office and is suited to someone who enjoys using data to drive decisions, solving complex problems, and working across multiple teams in a fast-moving environment.
The team supports Amazon Flex, which operates through independent delivery partners to complete customer deliveries. In this role, you will help shape planning decisions that affect capacity, pricing, and delivery-partner engagement for specific programs. From the start, you will be expected to use good judgment to make sure plans are practical, achievable, and aligned with business needs.
What you will do
- Take ownership of capacity planning, pricing, and delivery-partner engagement for assigned programs.
- Create and maintain data-driven capacity plans that support efficient operations and flexible scaling.
- Review prior performance, identify where execution fell short, and use those insights to improve future forecasts.
- Work with colleagues across functions to agree on resource needs and implementation plans.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that inform planning decisions.
- Use SQL and Excel to carry out detailed analysis and translate findings into practical actions.
- Share analysis, recommendations, and progress updates with stakeholders and business partners.
- Monitor planning accuracy on an ongoing basis and introduce improvements to strengthen the planning process.
- Respond to changing business priorities while continuing to support long-term planning objectives.
What the role is like day to day
A typical day in this position begins with reviewing performance data and checking where previous plans did not land as expected. You would then use that information to refine forecasts and improve the next round of planning. Much of the day involves working with cross-functional partners to align on resources and delivery approaches, as well as digging into data to uncover useful insights. Regular meetings with stakeholders are part of the role, where you would explain your analysis and recommend next steps. The work is varied and dynamic, requiring flexibility, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to stay focused on both immediate execution and longer-term strategy.
What you need to bring
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, INDEX/MATCH, VLOOKUP, VBA, and data linking.
- Experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience in program management or project management.
- Experience improving processes through automation and analysis, or experience presenting results to senior leadership.
- Experience in supply chain management.
- Working knowledge of SQL and database systems.
- Ability to work effectively with large amounts of data and solve complex, ambiguous problems.
- A strong delivery record and the ability to operate confidently in a cross-functional environment.
Nice to have
- Experience working with managed machine learning or AI solutions.
