Senior Analytics Solution Architect, UK Ireland, Amazon Global Sales, AWS Overview

Company Name Amazon
Job Role Senior Analytics Solution Architect, UK Ireland, Amazon Global Sales, AWS
Qualifications Not Specified
Category IT Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

This role sits within AWS Global Sales and focuses on helping enterprise customers design and modernise analytics platforms that turn large volumes of raw data into useful business insight. The position is centred on building scalable, cost-aware architectures across the full AWS analytics stack, supporting customers as they move from older on-premises environments to cloud-native data platforms, and helping them unlock faster decision-making through better data foundations.

You would act as a senior technical partner to customers facing complex analytics transformation work. That includes shaping architectures for data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses, real-time streaming systems, business intelligence, and advanced analytics. The role also involves advising on how to use AWS services such as Redshift, Athena, EMR, Glue, Kinesis, QuickSight, and OpenSearch to solve practical customer problems. A major part of the job is translating unclear business needs into technical designs that are robust, efficient, and suitable for enterprise-scale use.

What you will do

  • Design complete analytics solutions covering data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses, and streaming pipelines using AWS analytics services.
  • Support customers modernising legacy analytics environments, including migrations from platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, Netezza, and Hadoop into cloud-native architectures.
  • Refactor ETL approaches and validate performance as part of migration and modernisation work.
  • Work closely with AWS sales colleagues, including Account Managers and Account Solutions Architects, to identify opportunities, shape the commercial approach, and position AWS competitively.
  • Build proofs of concept and prototypes that demonstrate performance, scalability, and cost optimisation for customer workloads.
  • Create reusable architecture blueprints and design patterns for streaming ingestion, change data capture, data mesh, and governed data sharing.
  • Advise enterprise stakeholders on how to turn BI, reporting, and advanced analytics requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Feed customer insights back into AWS analytics product teams, contribute to private beta activity, and help influence future service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with specialists in AI/ML, security, and migration so that analytics foundations can support downstream machine learning and generative AI initiatives.
  • Share knowledge through workshops, technical thought leadership, and reference architectures that help customers and the wider community.

About the team

You would join the AWS Analytics Specialist Solutions Architecture team, a group of data-focused professionals who are especially interested in query performance, lakehouse design, and helping customers turn data into decisions. The team works across the full AWS analytics portfolio and partners with AWS service teams to influence product direction while solving difficult customer challenges.

The team welcomes people from a range of backgrounds, including data engineering, business intelligence, data science, and software development. The culture is described as inclusive and supportive, with employee-led communities that recognise and celebrate different perspectives. The team also emphasises sustainable working practices and says it supports work-life balance through flexible working arrangements.

What you need

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in IT development or in implementation/consulting roles within software or internet businesses.
  • Experience in one or more relevant technical areas, such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives and clients.
  • Experience designing analytics or data platform solutions, such as data warehouses, data lakes, ETL or ELT pipelines, BI systems, or real-time streaming solutions.
  • Experience presenting technical material, running workshops, or producing thought leadership content for senior technical and business audiences.
  • Preferred: an AWS certification such as AWS Solutions Architect, or another similar cloud certification.
  • Preferred: understanding of data structures, data modelling, and database schema design.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with AWS analytics services including Redshift, Athena, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, MSK, or QuickSight.
  • Preferred: experience migrating enterprise data warehouses such as Teradata, Oracle Exadata, or Netezza, or Hadoop environments, into cloud-native analytics platforms.
