The Reliability Maintenance Engineering team plays a central role in keeping Amazonâs operations innovative, efficient, and technically up to date. As a senior technician in this team, you will help ensure the equipment and technologies used across the site continue to perform reliably, while also looking for smarter and more effective ways of working. The role is focused on maintaining high operational standards, improving equipment uptime, and introducing upgrades that raise performance even further.
What you will do
- Set the example for safe equipment use and make sure colleagues follow the correct operating procedures.
- Carry out and oversee condition checks, visual inspections, and preventive maintenance activities to keep equipment performing well, and arrange extra servicing when performance issues are identified.
- Lead technicians during shifts, support their development, and act as the main point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
- Investigate and fix equipment problems quickly so operational downtime is reduced and package handling can continue efficiently.
- Look for opportunities to improve systems and standardise processes across the European network.
- Guide shift activity so that equipment is available, functioning properly, and maintained to the required standard.
- Make sure site processes, regulations, and policies are being followed throughout the shift.
- Use what you observe in day-to-day operations to suggest improvements and help implement them across the wider EU function.
- Monitor equipment and process performance using tools such as SCADA.
- Work with your line manager on administrative duties connected to the role.
- Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment across Amazonâs fulfilment and operations sites.
- Help ensure buildings and systems remain legally compliant so that sites stay safe and operate efficiently.
- Contribute to the introduction of new methods and technologies, including automation and robotics, where appropriate.
What the role is like
This position is based at one of Amazonâs operational sites and follows a shift pattern. Shifts can include weekends, nights, and other non-standard working times, and maintenance work may also take place during early or late hours to minimise disruption. On a typical shift, you will be leading a team, checking that equipment is available and working correctly, and making sure preventive maintenance is completed to support high uptime. You will also be expected to spot ways to improve efficiency and productivity, then help roll those improvements out across the wider organisation. As you build experience in this area, there may be opportunities to move into more senior positions.
