Technical Program Manager – Human Data Annotation Overview

This role sits within a research-focused environment and is aimed at someone who can build and run the human data operations that support model development. The work spans the full path from evaluation through training, with the goal of improving model capabilities so they better match the complexity of real-world use cases. You will work at the intersection of science, product, operations, and tooling, helping the company scale high-quality data collection and annotation efforts.

What you will be doing

• Partner with science and product teams to create datasets that move forward important model abilities, behaviors, and skills.
• Own the human data operation that underpins model development, covering both evaluation and training workflows.
• Help reduce the gap between what users need in practice and what the models can currently do by coordinating targeted data collection.
• Lead contractor groups and manage external vendors that support both rapid-turnaround and larger-scale collection programs involving subject matter experts.
• Oversee the end-to-end setup and execution of contractor and vendor work, including finding sources, arranging contracts, onboarding contributors, training them, and monitoring their performance.
• Track campaign execution closely and build reporting dashboards that show throughput, spending, and quality outcomes.
• Work with cross-functional partners to identify risks early, make sure data requirements are satisfied, and ensure the right tooling exists for efficient annotation and reliable data handoff.

What the team is looking for

• At least three years of experience leading technical programs in a research or data-oriented setting.
• Solid understanding of how to manage contractors and vendors, along with practical knowledge of data collection operations.
• Comfort working with Python; familiarity with SQL is also valued.
• Strong program and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate several workstreams at the same time.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively across functions.
• A highly organized approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay effective when pressure is high.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on solving problems and improving processes over time.
• Enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and research, plus a clear interest in AI.
• Willingness to take a hands-on approach and stay close to the operational details of the work.
