This is a hands-on FPGA engineering opportunity with a UK-based product company developing advanced vision and imaging platforms used internationally across life sciences, manufacturing, robotics, and other sectors. What you will do
- Lead and own challenging FPGA hardware development work for next-generation imaging systems.
- Build FPGA designs from the ground up, using VHDL and SystemVerilog as the main implementation languages.
- Develop and support high-speed interfaces including PCIe, CoaXPress, MIPI, DDR4/DDR5, Ethernet, and QSFP.
- Perform simulation, verification, and fault-finding using advanced testing and debugging approaches.
- Contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from prototype stages through to final release.
- Work in close partnership with hardware, software, and production teams to deliver complete solutions.
- Help create robust designs that are intended for production use and have clear commercial impact.
What the employer is looking for
- Practical FPGA development experience, ideally gained with Xilinx, Intel, or Lattice devices.
- Confidence in creating, validating, and documenting FPGA-based systems.
- A solid grasp of digital hardware principles and how FPGA designs integrate with PCB-level hardware.
- Understanding of EMI and EMC considerations in electronic design.
- Experience working on high-speed digital systems or similarly complex hardware projects.
- Useful additional experience in imaging technologies, Python or TCL scripting, or CI/CD practices.
- A collaborative engineer who is comfortable working across disciplines in a multidisciplinary product development setting.
