An engineering team focused on autonomous platforms for extremely cold Arctic conditions is looking for a Power Systems Engineer to help develop the power architecture for its next generation of unmanned systems. The role is centered on creating dependable energy solutions that can operate for long periods in severe environments, with a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on engineering and system reliability.
What you will do
- Develop and integrate power system architectures for autonomous platforms and unmanned systems.
- Design power distribution and conversion solutions for drones and remote sensor equipment.
- Create resilient backup power arrangements and redundancy strategies for electronics that must remain operational in mission-critical use cases.
- Choose components and engineer power modules that are appropriate for sub-zero temperatures and high-vibration conditions.
- Carry out simulation, analysis, and validation work on power circuits and energy-storage subsystems.
- Work alongside electronics, firmware, and mechanical engineering colleagues to ensure the power design fits cleanly into the overall system.
- Support environmental qualification, field trials, and performance assessment activities.
- Produce design records, test plans, and engineering reports for both internal review and external communication.
What the employer is looking for
- A solid background in power electronics, energy systems, or hardware design.
- Experience with DC-DC converters, battery technologies, UPS design, or electronics built for harsh operating environments.
- The ability to define system-level architectures and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Useful practical experience in testing, fault diagnosis, and validation.
- A degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
