This is an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding US-founded start-up as it builds out its UK hardware engineering presence. The business is backed by an experienced leadership team with a strong history of delivery, and it is aiming to play a major role in the next generation of AI computing. The role sits within the Fabric IP group and is focused on advanced ASIC design work for highly configurable IP, with a strong emphasis on microarchitecture, RTL development, and collaboration across verification and validation.

The company is looking for an experienced ASIC Design Engineer who can help shape the technical foundation of its product portfolio. The work is centered on high-performance compute platforms that combine CPUs, GPUs, and neural accelerators, so the role offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge hardware used in demanding AI workloads. As one of the early UK hires, you would have a meaningful influence on both the engineering approach and the wider team environment.

What you will do

  • Create and refine microarchitectures for a set of highly configurable IP blocks.
  • Write and improve RTL with careful attention to performance, power efficiency, and silicon area.
  • Partner with verification specialists on assertions, test planning, coverage, debugging, and validation work.
  • Support the development of new interconnect and compute technologies that will form part of the company’s future roadmap.
  • Help establish the UK engineering team by contributing technical leadership and a collaborative working style.

What the employer is looking for

  • A degree at bachelor’s or master’s level in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
  • At least eight years of practical experience in microarchitecture and RTL design.
  • Strong capability in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
  • Solid knowledge of mainstream EDA tools and ASIC design practices.
  • In-depth understanding of on-chip interconnects and NoC architectures.
  • Useful experience with cache coherency, memory systems, interconnects, or NoC IP.
  • Prior work on CPU or GPU design would be a major plus.
  • Applicants must already be based in the UK and currently eligible to work there.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Bristol or Cambridge.
  • Ability to travel into Cambridge two to three times each week.
