PCB Layout Engineer Overview

An engineering recruitment client is looking for a PCB Layout Engineer to join a growing team in Cambridge, England. The role sits within a technology-focused environment and involves supporting the development of complex electronic products. It is a chance to contribute to both new designs and existing products, with a particular emphasis on mixed-signal PCB work.

What you will do

• Create PCB layouts for analogue, digital, and RF circuits, and update those layouts as design needs change.
• Partner closely with electronics engineers so the board layout accurately reflects the intended circuit behaviour and performance goals.
• Support design-for-manufacture activities and help ensure the boards are suitable for production.
• Carry out layout checks and reviews, then implement improvements where they are needed.
• Make sure the designs meet electromagnetic compatibility expectations and maintain signal integrity.

What the employer is looking for

• Previous experience producing PCB layouts for complex electronic systems.
• Solid knowledge of high-speed, RF, or mixed-signal design concepts.
• Practical experience with commonly used PCB design software.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture considerations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers from different disciplines.
