GaN Device Engineer Overview

An international employer is seeking a GaN Device Engineer to support the development of GaN power devices from a remote location in the UK. This position is centered on electrical characterization, analysis of test data, and close collaboration with both internal specialists and outside partners involved in fabrication and testing.

What you will do

• Run DC electrical tests on GaN devices, including measurements such as Id-Vgs, Id-Vds, capacitance-voltage, and breakdown behavior.
• Examine and interpret measurement results so they can be used to guide device development and optimization work.
• Set up, plan, and evaluate experiments using design-of-experiments methods to support improvements in device design and process flow.
• Use knowledge of semiconductor physics to diagnose and resolve issues related to device performance, yield, and reliability.
• Partner with design, layout, and process engineering teams to support cross-functional development activities.
• Work with external fabrication and testing organizations to coordinate technical activities and progress the program.

What the employer is looking for

• Approximately three or more years of experience in device engineering or semiconductor characterization.
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a similar subject area.
• Experience analyzing technical data and turning results into actionable development insight.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor physics and the ability to troubleshoot device-related problems.
• Helpful background in GaN reliability and qualification techniques.
• Helpful knowledge of GaN epitaxy.
• Experience using data analysis tools such as JMP would be an advantage.
