The focus is on ruggedised systems built to survive severe cold, mechanical strain, and remote operation.

What you will do

• Take technical responsibility for rugged mechanical hardware platforms designed for extreme climates.
• Guide the design, development, and delivery of cold-resistant hardware from the earliest concept stage through to products ready for field use.
• Create engineering solutions that stay reliable when exposed to intense thermal and mechanical stress.
• Make important design choices around materials, environmental sealing, structural design, and joining methods that suit harsh operating conditions.
• Work with test engineers to run cold-chamber evaluations and durability testing in sub-zero environments.
• Collaborate with teams covering electrical engineering, software, RF, systems, and GIS so that complex multi-disciplinary platforms are integrated successfully.
• Define and maintain quality and reliability standards to ensure the systems perform as required in the toughest conditions.

What the employer is looking for

• More than seven years of industry experience developing hardware for demanding or extreme environments.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• A strong body of work showing practical hardware development delivered in real-world settings.
• Advanced skill using 3D CAD software such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar environments that use product data management.
• Experience moving products from concept into production, with a strong grasp of design for manufacture and assembly.
• Practical, hands-on experience with building, prototyping, and testing hardware.
• Experience working alongside engineers from multiple disciplines to bring complex products together.
• A grounded, practical approach and the ability to convert engineering theory into durable, field-ready solutions.
