This opportunity is with an early-stage semiconductor start-up building a new class of high-performance RISC-V processors for real-time computing and AI/ML workloads. The business is focused on scalable multicore designs and advanced silicon for demanding embedded and edge-compute use cases. The position sits within the companyâs early engineering group and offers the chance to help shape complex digital hardware from the ground up.
The role is aimed at an enthusiastic engineer who wants to tackle challenging technical problems, develop skills across several disciplines, and take real responsibility in a collaborative start-up setting. You would be working alongside experienced specialists in architecture, ASIC design, verification, FPGA, and system-level development.
What you will do
- Help develop advanced digital ASIC and FPGA implementations.
- Write RTL code in Verilog and/or SystemVerilog as part of the design process.
- Support simulation, debugging, and verification work to improve design quality.
- Contribute to work on multicore processor architectures and high-performance compute platforms.
- Work in partnership with colleagues across architecture, ASIC, verification, FPGA, and related engineering functions.
- Assist with improving automation, scripting, and the engineering design flow.
- Take part in technical reviews and contribute ideas during engineering discussions.
- Support hardware bring-up and validation activities when required.
What the employer is looking for
- A degree or higher qualification in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of digital design.
- Working knowledge of Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Some hands-on exposure to ASIC or FPGA development, whether through academic projects, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with simulation and debugging approaches.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn across multiple technical areas.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, team-oriented engineering environment.
