An opportunity is available for a Java software engineer to join a leading semiconductor organisation in London that specialises in high-performance mixed-signal processing. The role sits within a team building cross-platform applications, SDKs, and developer tools that support advanced hardware configuration and tuning. This is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on creating polished internal software that works closely with hardware and user experience requirements.

What you will be doing

• Designing and enhancing cross-platform applications, SDKs, and developer tooling used in a technical hardware environment.
• Building internal software that supports configuration and tuning workflows for advanced hardware systems.
• Working closely with UX specialists, hardware engineers, and other software developers to deliver practical, well-designed tools.
• Contributing to the ongoing improvement of desktop software, including application structure, user interface behaviour, and engineering quality.
• Helping evolve existing products and tooling so they continue to meet the needs of the wider engineering organisation.

What the employer is looking for

• Background as a Java software engineer with experience developing desktop applications.
• Experience using Java UI frameworks is preferred, particularly JavaFX, Swing, or Qt.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
