An opportunity is available for a Java software engineer to join a leading semiconductor organisation in London that specialises in high-performance mixed-signal processing. The role sits within a team building cross-platform applications, SDKs, and developer tools that support advanced hardware configuration and tuning. This is a hands-on engineering position with a strong focus on creating polished internal software that works closely with hardware and user experience requirements.
What you will be doing
- Designing and enhancing cross-platform applications, SDKs, and developer tooling used in a technical hardware environment.
- Building internal software that supports configuration and tuning workflows for advanced hardware systems.
- Working closely with UX specialists, hardware engineers, and other software developers to deliver practical, well-designed tools.
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of desktop software, including application structure, user interface behaviour, and engineering quality.
- Helping evolve existing products and tooling so they continue to meet the needs of the wider engineering organisation.
What the employer is looking for
- Background as a Java software engineer with experience developing desktop applications.
- Experience using Java UI frameworks is preferred, particularly JavaFX, Swing, or Qt.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
- Experience working with multithreaded software.
- Exposure to build automation and CI/CD practices would be advantageous.
- Docker knowledge is also desirable.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including UX and hardware specialists.

Working arrangement and package
- The role is based in London, England.
- The working model is hybrid, with a minimum of one day each week spent onsite in the London office.
