This role sits within Amazonâs workplace health and safety function and is focused on helping keep people safe and well while they work. It is presented as a strong entry point into safety work, with the chance to build experience in a global organisation and learn directly from specialists. The position is based on site, where you can observe operations first-hand, understand how equipment and processes are used, and make a visible difference to employee wellbeing.
What you will do
- Complete risk assessments and safety audits across the site to identify hazards and reduce the likelihood of incidents.
- Carry out regular checks to confirm that site activities are being carried out in line with Amazonâs safety procedures.
- Produce and maintain reports on safety performance and key metrics so that others can review the data and act on it.
- Work alongside colleagues in Operations and other parts of the business on safety-related tasks, giving practical advice on safe processes and ways of working.
- Help implement new safety measures and support the rollout of improvements across the site.
- Provide additional support to the Operations team on safety matters as they arise, including tasks that come up outside the normal routine.
- Gather important safety data, share it with relevant teams, and use it to help the business stay ahead of potential problems.
- Spend time on site understanding how tasks, equipment, and machinery are used so you can spot risks early and help prevent issues before they happen.
What the role is like day to day
You will be based at one of Amazonâs operational sites, which means you will be close to the work as it happens and available to answer questions from colleagues during their shifts. A large part of the job is proactive: watching for possible issues, checking how people interact with equipment, and thinking through how to keep processes safe. You will also be involved in putting safety changes into practice, which means working closely with many different people across the site. In addition to your regular daily and weekly responsibilities, you will support the Operations team with ad hoc safety work and help ensure that safety information is captured, shared, and used to improve performance.
Team and business context
The role is part of Amazon Transportation Service, a diverse team that supports Amazonâs transport network and helps keep operations running efficiently. The wider team uses data to inform decisions and plays an important role in making the business more innovative and effective. Safety is described as a top priority, and the teamâs work supports Amazonâs aim of moving packages quickly, conveniently, and sustainably.
What you need
- A Health and Safety NVQ Level 3, a NEBOSH National General Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
- Advanced ability in the local language at C1 level according to the CEFR framework.
- Experience communicating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, whether through written communication or presentations.
- Experience of working both on your own and as part of a team.
- A valid driving licence.
