Commercial Lead – Tenant Referencing Overview

Company Name Thirdfort
Job Role Commercial Lead – Tenant Referencing
Qualifications Not Specified
Category General Jobs
Job Type Full Time
Location London

Thirdfort is hiring for a commercially focused role within its tenant referencing business, a fast-growing product in an underserved market. The company’s wider mission is to reduce fraud and money laundering in major life transactions, helping people and businesses complete important checks more safely and with less friction. Its platform supports regulated professionals such as lawyers, estate agents, and accountants with secure identity and verification processes, and the business is already trusted by more than 1,500 customers.

This position sits inside a small, high-ownership unit that is being built to accelerate the growth of the referencing product. The expectation is that the successful person will take responsibility for the full commercial engine: shaping the market approach, launching and selling the product, growing the customer base, and managing the commercial operations that support expansion. The role is intentionally broad and hands-on, suited to someone who is comfortable working in a very entrepreneurial environment and who enjoys taking responsibility for outcomes rather than simply coordinating others.

The role is based in London and is set up as a hybrid position. Thirdfort would like the person in the office around three days each week, as the team believes being together is especially valuable at this stage of growth.

What you will do

  • Build and execute the go-to-market strategy for tenant referencing.
  • Take the product to market directly, developing the message, choosing the right channels, and refining the approach from early experimentation into a repeatable commercial motion.
  • Win new customers while also managing the existing customer base across the full lifecycle.
  • Own commercial operations as the business scales, ensuring the setup can support a growing book of customers.
  • Improve the economics of the product by lowering the cost per reference through better automation and the use of AI.
  • Represent the commercial perspective in product discussions and help shape the roadmap.
  • Partner closely with the Product & Technology Lead to help build a market-leading product.
  • Work across the wider business to get things done, while taking personal accountability for results.

What the company is looking for

  • Approximately 5 to 10 years of strong experience with a steep progression curve, ideally gained in a high-growth scaleup, or a background in consulting followed by operating experience.
  • Evidence of owning a commercial target or revenue number end to end, including both new business generation and account retention or growth.
  • A rounded commercial skill set, with the ability to sell, run operations, and contribute to marketing activity.
  • Strong analytical ability, including comfort with hands-on data work, self-directed analysis, report creation, and using data to inform decisions.
  • An entrepreneurial, owner-like mindset, with experience building something and a practical understanding of unit economics.
  • Comfort with learning quickly and taking on a wide-ranging remit in a lean team.

Helpful experience

  • Exposure to proptech, lettings, build-to-rent, or a similar sector.
  • Experience working in a regulated business and/or a fintech environment.
  • Experience building a product, team, or commercial motion from an early-stage or zero-to-one starting point.

Culture and working environment

Thirdfort describes its culture as collaborative, open, and values-led. The company wants people who take ownership, make an impact, and feel empowered to grow and develop. It also emphasizes flexibility, recognising that different people and families need different ways of working. The team is intentionally built to be inclusive and diverse, and the company encourages applicants from all backgrounds. It also notes that women and other underrepresented groups may be less likely to apply unless they meet every requirement, and says that candidates who feel they would thrive in the role and environment are still encouraged to apply even if they do not match every point on the list.

Benefits and rewards

  • Salary between £90,000 and £110,000, plus bonus and equity.
  • 26 days of holiday, increasing to 30 days with tenure, plus the option to buy extra leave.
  • Private healthcare through AXA.
  • Enhanced parental leave arrangements.
  • A home-working allowance.
  • Enhanced sick leave.
  • Regular company-wide and team social events.
  • An uncapped budget for personal development.
  • A wellness allowance through Thirdly.
  • Immediate access to the employee benefits package from day one.

How to apply

Applicants can submit their application through the job posting’s apply link. If any reasonable adjustments are needed during the application or interview process, the company asks candidates to let their dedicated Talent Partner know so support can be arranged.

Additional hiring information

Thirdfort states that it may use AI tools to assist with parts of the recruitment process, such as reviewing applications, analysing CVs, or checking responses for inconsistencies or verification signals. These tools support the recruitment team but do not replace human decision-making, and final hiring decisions are made by people.
