Capgemini Invent is looking for an AI Engineering Consultant or Senior Consultant to help design, build, and run advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI solutions at enterprise scale. The role is focused on turning promising prototypes into dependable business systems, with an emphasis on moving AI from experimentation into live operational use. You will help create solutions that are technically strong, responsibly governed, and capable of delivering real business value.

What you will do

  • Assess existing MLOps approaches and put in place a robust framework, governance model, and set of best practices aligned with industry standards.
  • Design and deliver complete AI and machine learning solutions from start to finish, including data preparation, model development, deployment, feature stores, model lifecycle management, and monitoring.
  • Build solutions using modern generative AI and agentic AI frameworks, including tools such as ADK, LangGraph, Microsoft Agent Framework, LlamaIndex, and related technologies.
  • Translate AI use cases into practical data and AI architectures, selecting the most appropriate cloud services across major hyperscaler platforms.
  • Architect and implement generative AI systems such as retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent-based workflows, and orchestration of large language models across Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Embed safety, evaluation, and assurance controls throughout the AI lifecycle so that delivered solutions are ethical, explainable, and responsible.
  • Turn business and functional needs into technical blueprints and help guide multidisciplinary teams through delivery.
  • Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure AI solutions create measurable impact and support business goals.
  • Contribute to business development by creating client-ready demonstrations and proof-of-value assets, helping with proposals, and providing technical deep-dives.
  • Support internal capability by building reusable assets and frameworks that can be used across accounts and by helping shape the Data & AI Innovation team’s delivery methods.
  • Take part in capability development through thought leadership, blog writing, and internal accelerator work in areas such as agentic AI, LLMOps, and evaluation frameworks.

What the team is looking for

  • Experience in a major consulting firm, or in industry with a consulting mindset, together with the ability to succeed in a matrixed organisation and win support from peers when selling and delivering solutions.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical client sponsors to shape requirements collaboratively and develop solutions.
  • A proven background in defining and implementing MLOps strategies and frameworks, with a track record of delivering AI and machine learning solutions at scale from concept through production.
  • Strong knowledge of generative AI and agentic AI, including retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, evaluation harnesses, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience designing cloud-native data and AI architectures across Azure, GCP, AWS, and/or Databricks.
  • The ability to demonstrate how scaling AI can unlock business value and measurable impact.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Azure, GCP, or AWS, including relevant AI services like Foundry, AI Studio, OpenAI, AKS, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Bedrock, or SageMaker.
  • Experience building and automating AI and machine learning pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure ML, Vertex Pipelines, Airflow, or Google ADK.
  • Practical experience with generative and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Autogen, Google ADK, or similar tools.
  • Ability to design and implement RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, MCP, and integrations with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD and containerisation tools, including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Desirable familiarity with AI evaluation methods such as prompt evaluation, A/B testing, and quality assessment frameworks.
  • Helpful understanding of modern data patterns, including lakehouse architectures, vector databases, and relational or NoSQL stores.
  • Helpful familiarity with API gateways, event streaming, and general integration patterns.
  • Applicants must have lived in the UK for the last five years to be eligible for this role.

Why this role may appeal to you

You will join a team of ambitious people who enjoy taking the latest technology into real client environments and seeing it used in production. The work spans both public and private sector clients, so the impact is visible and practical. The team is highly focused on innovation, experimentation, and delivery, and is trusted to explore emerging technologies and bring them into client work.

You will also have exposure to internal innovation projects that showcase what is possible with the newest models and agentic frameworks, including presentations at major events and conferences. The role suits people who are curious, self-starting, and motivated by building the future through technology.

Working arrangements and location

The role is based from London, Manchester, or Glasgow, but you must be fully flexible about where you are assigned because work may require travel or time away from home at short notice. Capgemini also embeds hybrid working across the business and offers flexible working arrangements to UK employees on request.

Rewards, wellbeing, and culture

  • The overall package includes flexible benefits that can be tailored to personal circumstances.
  • A variable pay component is included, depending on grade and on both company and individual performance.
  • The organisation has been recognised with the Glassdoor Best Places to Work UK award for five consecutive years.
  • Capgemini places strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and creating an environment where people can bring their whole selves to work.
  • Employee wellbeing is treated as a priority, with trained Mental Health Champions across business areas and access to wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy.
  • The company aims to support a healthy work-life balance and provides flexible working as part of that commitment.
  • Capgemini is also focused on using technology for positive social impact, including reducing its own carbon footprint and improving access to the digital world.
  • The business has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the world’s most ethical companies for ten consecutive years.
